Rite Aid : Internships

Rite Aid : Internships | Education Needed to Become a Pharmacist | Scoop.it

Rite Aid Corporation is one of the nation's leading drugstore chains, combining its modern store base, strong brand name, modern distribution centers and superior pharmacy technology with a talented team of associates.

My Thoughts:

While at a pharmacy school, it is reccomended that I try to get an internship at a pharmacy in order to gain work experience before I start my career. At Rite Aid, they offer an internship for students who are enrolled in a professional pharmacy program. When I get into a pharmacy program I will have the chance to get real work experience if I do an internship through a pharmacy like Rite Aid. This internship sounds like a good choice because it offers a lot of benefits like health and dental plans, employee discounts, and student loan and loan consolidation programs. Acoording to this web page, in just four years I will learn all of the components needed to be a pharmacist.

Prerequisites | School of Pharmacy

University of Washington School of Pharmacy...

My Thoughts:

If I eventually want to become a pharmacist I will first need to get into a pharmacy program at a major state school or university. If the University of Washington School of Pharmacy is right for me, I will first need to take specific prerequisite courses at a different school. If i want to get into a school like the University of Washington, I will need to take courses such as biochemistry, general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, english composition, calculus, and a few more. I can get these credits at a different school before so it will be a lot cheaper.

My Thoughts:

According to this, I can get into University of Washington and Washington State University pharmacy schools after taking the required courses at Western Washington University. However it also informs me that these school's pharmacy programs are really selective and require high GPA's as well as a letter of recomendation and an interview. At Western I will be taking general classes, such as biology and chemistry, for the first few years and then during my senior year I will be preparing for a pharmacy institution. A majority of the classes that I will be taking will be science related but I will be taking some classes such as Microeconomics and Written Communications.

I decided to add this to my scoop it because I researched about pharmacist. In my research I discovered in-depth details about what a pharmacist does, but not in-depth details about how to become one. This is why I chose this piece. I feel like this piece of material is valuable because it goes more in-depth about what pre-pharmacy is. I need to know this information, so that I can plan ahead and finish pre-pharmacy within two years.

With this option, I understand that i can take this class as well as what classes I need to take to proceed in this direction. These programs show that they are very selective, and the classes will be difficult. That there will help me decide whether I really want to go through with this or not, or whether I am qualified.
