I have been researching Christianity, Mindfulness and meditation for a while now.. yes, I agree that the old news is becoming new news.. I have a friend who was diagnosed with lung cancer, his Oncologist, who has plenty credentials, leads a cancer support group and has extensively talked about mindfulness as a way to cope with the suffering associated with this insidious disease...

Ask Great Questions: Leadership Skills Of Socrates

Ask Great Questions: Leadership Skills Of Socrates | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it

Socrates, this ancient philosopher holds the key to an essential leadership skill: asking great questions. The challenge is that too few leaders, managers and employees ask great questions. This is a big problem. Cultures that embrace a culture of questioning thrive and those that fear it either fail or are doomed to mediocrity.

Meditation really does change our mood...and it's lasting change.

Damon Baragwanath's curator insight, August 19, 2013 10:59 PM

Personally I practice daily meditation and subjectively can vouch for the research results. Even without undergoing elaborate laboratory tests. Because you quite simply, feel the benefits yourself.

At a research level it has been well documented that meditation influences the nuerotransmitters in your brain, normalises blood pressure, reduces depression, anxiety and facilitates healing on the Physical, Mental and Emotional planes.

To conclude, if you've never experienced meditation then I highly recommend giving it a go. Although please begin slowly, be patient with yourself set small bite-size goals along the way e.g. On your intital meditation practice I'd recommend trying it for 10-15 mins and then over time increase your sessions by perhaps 5 mins each week up to a mximum of 30-60 mins.Ensure that you are warm and comfortable and focus soley on your breath - in and out, deep and slow whilst allowing thoughts to filter in and out of your mind.

5 Steps to Clear Mental Clutter

5 Steps to Clear Mental Clutter | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it

Clutter is anything that gets in the way of what matters most to you. It can certainly be material—unwanted trinkets and clothes that no longer fit—but clutter also can be spiritual, emotional, and psychological.

Regrets, anger, frustrations, anxieties, envy, and other nonproductive emotions may be depleting your limited energy. And, unfortunately, mental clutter doesn’t magically disappear; the only way to alleviate mental clutter is to deal with it.

It's an interesting approach. Personally I had times in my life when I had to quit photography, because I felt it made me detach from the moment - I was more concentrated on "taking a good photo" than on what I saw. Like in this joke: - Where did you go on holidays? - I don't know, haven't seen my photos yet.

Rethinking medicine through meditation ...

My days are short and as I grow weaker, I experience so much gratitude for my meditation. Not only the joy and ease it brought, but the hard parts. For every bored and restless sitting and every fearful fantasy, and every pain and ache I sat through, and every itch I witnessed and did not scratch, was a training for kindness. A training for the muscles, for bearing witness, for the trusting spirit that carries me now, even as I face my death.

Here is the hope that they can make a user friendly tool~Interested to see if some urban myths perpetuated by grain fed Tilapia and tested bad fats in studies to be unhealthy compared to other species grown on a natural diet. Some omnivores(vegetarian small insects) like Silver /Jade Perch have the worlds highest Omega3 healthy oil.Because of the ease of growing a rubbish fish that survives in crowded poor quality water conditions some Aquaponics growers persist in ignoring/ questioning the" Study" denial of inconvenient facts. They would sell it as "healthy fish" even if it were grown in a sewage drain as some Chinese product might as well be, it is fed faeces(shit) from farm animals.A Southeast Asian practice not to blame just China ,polyculture poultry pens above ponds pigs etc is wide spread as are health problems. The race to the bottom is not the way...Value for money IS  quality assured. A fresh clean green product involves rethinking the best produce you can grow, like heritage tomatoes that taste nice.Excess can be dried stored in olive oil or air tight containers.
