Discover, Clip And Share Videos From Anywhere With ReelSurfer

Discover, Clip And Share Videos From Anywhere With ReelSurfer | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it

Excerpted from review article by TechCrunch:
"ReelSurfer is an instant video editor, born out of its founders frustration of trying to find clips, quotes and scenes from their favorite movies on YouTube and other video sites.
ReelSurfer developed the tools to let you clip any video from any website and share it with your “homies” and “homedawgs” over the Facebooks, Twitters and more.

Today, ReelSurfer has officially unveiled a redesigned interface, which looks a whole helluva lot better and makes it easier to navigate and makes its URL search box even more prominent — as it should be.

The new interface still enables users to make video mashups or reels of multiple videos and link back to the source so that viewers can check out the full clip if they so choose. However, the new interface does allow for improved search and video discovery, so that users have a better chance to see if the clip they want to make has already been clippity-clipped by someone else. Time saving, my friends, time saving.

Yet, the biggest addition would have to be that ReelSurfer the now allows users to use its bookmarklet to clip videos from both Brightcove and Ooyala, in addition to YouTube and Vimeo..."

To me, this is a Utopic article... It really is...

Barbara Kerr's curator insight, March 26, 12:20 AM

"For too long, emotions have been unwelcome at work. We had a job to do, darn it, and we weren't going to let silly things like feelings get in the way. So we stifled tears, anger (sometimes) and even passion, lest we risk seeming unhinged."

donhornsby's curator insight, March 28, 8:50 AM

(From the article): Somewhere along the line we decided the way we interact in a work environment should be quite different than the way we interact with friends and family. That's as it should be, up to a point. But it overlooks the fact that we don't become robots when we walk through the office door.

We remain human beings throughout the day. Fleshy, warm-blooded, emotional.

Appreciate that. And hope that someday we can all work in office buildings made of rich Belgian chocolate — which would help smooth out everyone's emotions.

Patricia Clason's curator insight, March 28, 9:21 AM

Handling emotions in a healthy way in the workplace creates more engaged employees, more satisfied and healthier employees. It's a win for everyone and an idea whose time has come. The way our work world has shifted now means many people spend more time in a week with their fellow workers than their family members.

Consider the emotional culture of your organization. What needs to change for it to be healthier? more emotionally intelligent?

Compassion quiets the mind, improves the body, embraces the world

Compassion quiets the mind, improves the body, embraces the world | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it
An experience at a conference on compassion leads this writer to consider the extent to which our thoughts can benefit those around us.

Even more than a desire to relieve the suffering of others, compassion is born of an innate recognition that we are all embraced in a universal and unconditional love. Although all too often this recognition lies buried beneath the stress of circumstance, this doesn’t mean it’s beyond our capacity to discover, uncover, and benefit from.

All it takes is a willingness to listen and the humility to respond.

Mindful Mornings: 4 tips to get the day going | Mindful | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it
How we start the morning often sets the stage for how the rest of the day unfolds. Of course life throws us curve balls in the middle of the day, maybe you get a stressful email or someone rear ends you with their car or you lost that deal that you were looking forward to. Anything can happen in the present moment, but how we start our day can often affect how we greet those challenges.

This is an insightful article - and I especially appreciated the second point:

"Prime Your Mind for Good – After a brief mindful check-in, one way of inclining your mind toward resiliency and even opening up to the good of the day is to consider an intentional gratitude practice. What in your life right now do you have to be grateful for? It could be something simple, like waking up on the right side of the bed, to having a roof over your head, to having a good cup of coffee in the morning. Just practice inkling your mind to the good in life."

A Look into the Causes of Poverty in the U.S.

A Look into the Causes of Poverty in the U.S. | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it

"Are more and more people in the western world dropping off the radar and becoming the invisible poor or is the opposite happening?  We recently heard that an astounding 46 million Americans are officially below the poverty line (That's $23,050/year for a family of four according to the official sources).  That number really caught our eye and as such we decided to do a little more digging to help put some more facts and figures around it.  Above is a nice visualization of the results we came up with."

Chandrima Roy's curator insight, January 14, 3:36 AM

wow

Ivan Koh's curator insight, February 3, 7:37 AM

This is my insight using See-Think-Wonder.
From this statistic, i can see alot of statistic about the number of people who are poor and the people's opinion related to poverty and welfare. In the article, i can see that 46million american are considered to be poor, and form the authors opinion, to prevent porverty, we should manage our wealth and make sure that we earn more than we spend.

I think that from the statistics, most people are poor mostly due to the fact that  they were uneducated in alot of ways. From the statistics, 1.2 million students drop out from high school every year. Thus, these people were mostly uneducated and cannot find a proper job, leading to drugs and borrowing of money. i also think that most people are poor because they are lazy and do not want to help themselves, as agreed by half of the americans that the poor are not doing enough to help themselves, and by 43% of americans that people who are poor can find a job if they are willing to work.

This article and statistics makes me wonder why american governments are not doing enough to educate students the importance of jobs and studies. Because people who are poor can actually work, but are too lazy to do it, this also makes me wonder why the government are giving money to the poor when they are able to help themselves

Brandon Lee's curator insight, February 4, 10:36 AM

The insight of this article merely showed that more and more people does not really have  a good financial health, which also has translated into people wer e "invisible poor" especially those living in the western world. Comparison had been made on its poverty line between USA and UK statistics.

In my opinion, managing a country's budget its not an easy task, this is because a country need competitive global presence and to boost the economy. People need to produce more and more services outside its own country.

I have often thought that a country's population does have an impact on a country's economic growth.

What are Contemplative Practices?

What are Contemplative Practices? | Let us learn together... | Scoop.it

Contemplative practices quiet the mind in order to cultivate a personal capacity for deep concentration and insight. Examples of contemplative practice include not only sitting in silence but also many forms of single-minded concentration including meditation, contemplative prayer, mindful walking, focused experiences in nature, yoga and other contemporary physical or artistic practices. We also consider various kinds of ritual and ceremony designed to create sacred space and increase insight and awareness to be forms of contemplative practice.
