Here are seven strategies you might choose to use to make your teacher smarter. They are explained in the post (and listed in the image above). For those whom may see this without the image:

* Use technology to automate (with suggestions on what you might do)

* Know yourself

* Teach in the moment

* Advocate for yourself

* Find new measures of success

* Open your classroom doors wide

How about asking the student to teach you?  They nearly always come up with something different, which you can add to your own notes.

Students are also great at acting out scenes, particularly when they are organising other students.  Give them a mark for it.  Then test their knowledge a few days later with  a 30 minute test.

What is the best way to use technology in your classroom? We know that students like to use technology but are they using it constructively? Are  you using technology constructively? This post explores these issues, not ing that there are some right and wrong answers in how technology should be used?

I believe that technology is a tool, a tool that can be used to reinforce, enhance and extend the curriculum; a tool that allows students to use critical thinking skills; to find answers to questions.

An important point to remember when we are considering using technology in the classroom. The integration of technology can be a help in the classroom while simply using technology can become a hinderance. So where do we make that distinction?

This article is about digital technology and how it is used and integrated. Are we truly USING technology when it is not integrated? When we ask for assessment that is presented with powerpoint, for example, we could just as easily ask them to write it in a book or make a poster. Digital technology should be used to facilitate collaboration and build high level thinking skills, that is how learning occurs.

Technology use is the first step.  Technology integration is the opportunity to combine technology with pedagogy.  Technology infusion is the process of using technology as a tool for learning, thinking, and problem solving.

If you have an upcoming Open House this might be an infographic that would elicit comments from parents.

All learning technologies have a place, but "technology' - in the form of a solution, support and application device or system "decays" over time. It goes from technology to facility.....and falls from the innovation spot that breaks it into use. That said, drawing with a stick in mud, once a real innovation to led to early man being able to convey and communicate is still relevant in some situations. Mind you, saying that, I have to refrain from pointing these things out in case the current Education Secretary here in england decides to add it to the curriculum ;-)

This post begins with a quote from President Obama:

"“The quality of math and science teachers is the most important single factor influencing whether students will succeed or fail in science, technology, engineering and math.” From this point it veers  in a different direction, noting that the issue is that teachers "are not given the freedom to support children in ways that will produce the scientists and innovators our country needs."

If we look to our past (and our present) we will find that we are not listening to the advice that "our nation's historic inventors, scientists, and physicists (whom have shared) their advice and experiences." 

Read the article to learn the experiences of Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Richard Feyman, Michio Kaku (which includes a video where he explains "that exams are crushing curiousity out of the next generation..."), as well as individuals around today such as Aaron Iba and Jack Andraka (the student who at the age of 15 created a test for pancreatic cancer).

Perhaps the question we need to ask is how do we change the system to support the necessary learning?
