This is an interesting news story that's floating just beneath the surface: the prospect of deflation in the Eurozone. I'm intrigued by the timing of this story emerging; has it been 'hidden' today because the Autumn Statement will grab all the headlines?

Nevertheless, this is an important story - both in theoretical and practical terms. Deflation is worse than inflation - although the article isn't explicit in outlining its costs. Equally, the implications of deflation for the Eurozone are significant; it will put the single currency under pressure and many believe that the Germans  cannot countenance QE.

And, of course, it has adverse implications for the new-found recovery...
