Here Is A Collection of Some of The Best iPad Apps for High School Teachers

Here Is A Collection of Some of The Best iPad Apps for High School Teachers | Education and Technology | Scoop.it
After writing about iPad apps for elementary teachers, we are sharing with you today a list designed specifically for our colleagues teaching in high school. Of course there are tons of good educational iPad apps out there but limiting our list to only 10  titles forces us to selectively feature what we believe, based on our long app reviewing experience, are some of the best iPad apps for high school teachers. Have a look and, as always, your feedback is much appreciated.

Will educators get virtual reality right?

Will educators get virtual reality right? | Education and Technology | Scoop.it

The lag time between the emergence of new technology and its effective use in schools results in generations of students who do not benefit in their learning as much as the rest of the world benefits from increases in productivity and creativity. The bottom line is that it is easy to buy new equipment and new software. It is messier and more difficult to transform pedagogy to use those technologies in ways that create better learning outcomes.

Some useful ideas.

Ely Córdoba's curator insight, September 28, 10:33 AM
Over the years, smartphones takes an important part in the people, and more in younger people. In the classroom is very common the use of them, students use them to chatting, to read, to listen to music, and to use the camera in order to make photos or videos, and the last one has been very popular. However, stadistics show that the use of camera changes during the years; for example, today is less used in contrast with 2010, but this is not the point, the real point in this article is the motivation to implement this kind of tool in the different classes. All students have a smartphone, and as a teacher we can implement the use of the camera to change the teaching and give them dynamic activities. Some activities involve make videos, or stories with pictures, portfolios, collages, tutorial, presentations or different documents. These activities are atractive to students in order to change the way to learn and the applied activities in the process.

Addressing Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs with Technology

Addressing Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs with Technology | Education and Technology | Scoop.it

Technology is way too often given a bad rap by administrators and educators as a distraction or a hazard for students.  When technology is integrated intentionally with foresight and with intention of addressing specific growth-oriented goals, it increases the potential to help students learn, develop, and grow in unique ways.  It can be used to help address the needs as described by Maslow.

myCreate | (EdSurge Wiki)

myCreate | (EdSurge Wiki) | Education and Technology | Scoop.it

"MyCreate is an iPad app that teachers and students (grades K-12) can use to create stop-motion animations. Taking advantage of the built-in camera in the iPad 2 or 3, students can solely focus on the creative direction of the project -- building scenes, editing the sequences, and overlaying the audio. It was developed based on the same research from Tufts University used to create SAM Animation, iCreate To Educate’s first product.

"The goal of iCreate To Educate is to put students at the center of learning by encouraging them to construct and represent knowledge both in physical pictures and models (through crafts), as well as through stop-motion video. As a result, iCreate To Educate pairs myCreate with activity guides and rubrics for teachers, originally developed for the SAM Animation software, for teaching units in science, math and language arts to English language learners.

"The activity guides (which are available for free) are not comprehensive but intended to "seed ideas" for hands-on projects, says iCreate To Educate CEO, Melissa Pickering.

"The app is available for $4.99 on the App Store and is also available for volume education pricing.
