How to capture and share video of your screen with Jing | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

Jing tutorial: Capture a video: Jing can capture and share videos (up to five minutes long) from your computer screen. Narrating a quick video is a great way to show someone exactly what you mean.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Jing is a free way to get started with recording videos (and making screen shots you can dress up a bit) After I felt comfortable, I moved up to their paid tool, Snagit. I don't work for them, just like their products..

Carmenne K. Thapliyal's curator insight, October 16, 2013 2:08 AM

The download is free and this seems to be quite  an interesting tool but recording is restricted to 5 minute long videos. So am not sure how useful a tool like this would be.

1) I recently started working with Shay Howe's web site, and like it to see the big picture more than learn code.

2) I forgot about Thimble, so will have to check them out again.

3) And of course, I'm always looking up stuff and trying it out at w3schools.com..yes I know it isn't perfect, but it's fast..

Only 1 in 5 Students Obtain All Learning Materials Legally | EduWire.com | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it
Students in higher education today are living in the era of the $400 college textbook, and many have had to find creative, more affordable ways to obtain textbooks.
Becky Roehrs's insight:

Just had someone on campus who went with Cengage at their Community College to offer e-books (as part of registration) to all of the students in her department-after a number of pilots. Key: no access codes and reduced textbook costs by 30-60% and huge increases in completers and student success..

The Cengage rep said they''re discussing offering MindTap with OER products..which really sounded interesting

3 Free/Freemium Tools for Rubrics

Becky Roehrs's insight:

I'm always looking for easy to create/use rubrics, but often you can't download your rubric when you use these tools, you can only print. Rubistar is free and you are suppose to be able to download it and print it. Even though it's K-12, it has a lot of templates to give you ideas (even a web site rubric, which I need).

There's also easy-to-use Quick Rubric, but I thought you could only print it...I'm sure the Common Core Rubric Creator will make folks happy, too.
