Blogging for Reluctant Writers: Have students share their ideas using sound and video - The Digital Shift

Blogging for Reluctant Writers: Have students share their ideas using sound and video - The Digital Shift | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

For students who love to write, composing blog entries is a natural—and effective—way to share their stories and ideas with a wider audience. Reluctant writers can have great ideas, too—they just don’t want to write them down. Fortunately, there’s more than one way to tell a story. Here, we’ll examine some excellent video and audio tools and how they can be used to help students craft dynamic content for classroom blogs.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Richard Byrne discusses how students can use different media to share their thoughts: They can use Wideo.co to create videos and Soundcloud to create audio recordings; use Animoto or Narrable to create video slideshows; or use YouTube to record a quick answer and post it on the course blog or their own blog.

As smart classrooms become the norm on more campuses and online courses proliferate, some observers worry that the digital revolution will leave students with disabilities behind. But a bill under consideration in the U.S. Congress, the Technology, Equality, and Accessibility in College and Higher Education Act (HR 3505), would deal with that concern by creating accessibility guidelines for electronic materials used or assigned by college professors and administrators.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Yikes-it's for a good cause-but this bill doesn't sound like the best way to meet all student needs..

Students Riding on Coattails during Group Work? Five Simple Ideas to Try

Students Riding on Coattails during Group Work? Five Simple Ideas to Try | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it
