You Only Have a Week Left to Get Windows 10 Free. Here’s Why You Should Update

You Only Have a Week Left to Get Windows 10 Free. Here’s Why You Should Update | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it
The free Windows 10 upgrade offer ends on July 29, 2016. After that, you’ll have to pay at least $119 if you ever want to upgrade to Windows 10 on your computer.
Becky Roehrs's insight:

I'm not a fan of Windows 10, but my college is going that way..and I have Windows 7 at home, not Windows 8. So this week I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 while it's still free. It was not fun either. Start now..biggest hurdle-stuck at 99% repeatedly-had to turn off (disable at a system level) Windows Update. Then it knocked my anti-virus software out and had to reinstall it, too.

Free Technology for Teachers: Zaption is Closing - Try These Alternatives

Free Technology for Teachers: Zaption is Closing - Try These Alternatives | Education and Tech Tools | Scoop.it

At the end of June Zaption announced that they had been acquired by another company and would be shutting down at the end of September.

Becky Roehrs's insight:

Was I ever heartbroken when Zaption announced they had been bought out! This article points out some alternatives, but didn't mention PlayPosit, which is what I'm going to use. Why?

  1. If you have 30 Zaption lessons like I do, PlayPosit created a tool to convert your Zaption lessons to PlayPosit bulbs!
  2. Plus, I looked at EdPuzzle, but liked PlayPosit better-it's geared a bit more for higher ed. So if you're K-12, I would go with whichever one feels like a good fit for you.
  3. Want to check out PlayPosit? I've created a wiki page with PlayPosit resources (nope, I don't work for them).
