China stealing Finland education plan?... I reposted 10 Commandments earlier or prior to this post here regarding China's new education plan before I realize from this article that it's China stealing the idea from Finland?

Quoted from above article:

"Finland has a culture of collaboration between schools, not competition. Most schools, according to Partanen, perform at the same level, so there is no status in attending a particular facility."

"The focus is on the individual child. If a child is falling behind, the highly trained teaching staff recognizes this need and immediately creates a plan to address the child's individual needs. Likewise, if a child is soaring ahead and bored, the staff is trained and prepared to appropriately address this as well."

deniseroberts's insight:

Great article about the iTunes webinars designed by ASCD.  The downside to the resources is that most of them were designed in 2010.  Some states have changed their focus to customized state standards, the section on formative assessments and the design of them needs to be beefed up.

A Principal's Reflections: Stop Ignoring Google+

A Principal's Reflections: Stop Ignoring Google+ | Everything PLC | Scoop.it
In case you didn't know there are thousands of educators and an array of learning communities over at Google+.  The bottom line is that many people are missing out on some great content, resources, and conversation.  From my point of view educators become quickly attached to one specific social media tool as their go to source for his/her Personal Learning Network (PLN).  Take Twitter for example.  Now anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love Twitter as a professional learning and networking tool. It has been and will continue to be my number one choice when it comes to learning in the foreseeable future. Twitter has many positive attributes, but also a growing number of negative aspects.  Some examples in my opinion, include an increasing amount of negativity and disrespect, rise in social media cliques, difficulty in following chats, noise, and overbearing opinions.  Even as Twitter still works great for me and others it is not the only player out there.  Nor should it be considered the best learning option for all. At times I just need to get away from the echo chamber to focus more on my learning.
