I haven't tried this yet, but it looks like a nice free platform. The premium accounts look very reasonably priced too, so could be a good way to start producing your own courses and generating aan income.

How Students Can Use Timeline Infographics in the Classroom | EDUCATION 2.0 | Scoop.it

As a foreign language teacher, I am always looking for innovative ways to allow my students to demonstrate what they have learned.

I want students to be able to choose a tool that brings out their creative side and, as a result, leads to a more authentic and meaningful learning experience.

Because learning a language can be difficult, I try to design a variety of activities and projects that will provide students with practice and unique opportunities to develop their language skills through the creation of their projects.

"MakerSpaces can be a great catalyst for the growth of social-emotional learning.  Facilitating a maker culture can give students a venue for the development of the tools they need to recognize, understand and manage emotions and to make the responsible decisions that are critical to being a successful learner. These life long skills must be clearly articulated and deliberately discussed so that they become an intrinsic foundation for the emotional health of the student.

There are many excellent social emotional learning titles that can be used to encourage SEL development. However, a few of these also blend very well with a Maker mentality and build on some important tenants of social and emotional well being."

Remember though that finding the right tool is important, but how you structure and design interaction with the content is way more important. Taking classroom activities and materials and placing them on a web-based platform and expecting them to work is sure way to disappoint students. You need to think carefully about how the student will engage with the materials and how the materials relate to each other to ensure that your materials don’t just test the students’ knowledge and abilities, but that they guide and enable the student to hypothesise and make and confirm deductions in order to encourage deeper levels of autonomous learning.

Researchers from the University of Otago, New Zealand, wanted to find out if engaging in normal creative acts make people feel better. An analysis of the information found a pattern of more enthusiasm and higher ‘flourishing’ following days when the undergraduates were more creative.

Study author Dr Tamlin Conner said: ‘There is growing recognition in psychology research that creativity is associated with emotional functioning.

‘However, most of this work focuses on how emotions benefit or hamper creativity, not whether creativity benefits or hampers emotional wellbeing.’

How technology creates facilitative disruption in the classroom

How technology creates facilitative disruption in the classroom | EDUCATION 2.0 | Scoop.it
There is no doubt that technology has the potential to be a major disruptor in the classroom. There are two kinds of disruption: facilitative, or “good”, disruption; and debilitating, or “bad”, disruption. So what matters most is the type of disruption being caused not so much the disruption itself.

In agreement with the article, we should encourage our students to think in an innovative way in order to foster their agency for learning and in that way create opportunities for facilitative disruption to take place. Moreover, in order to avoid debilitating disruption is important to always keep in mind that technology should be used as a means, that is as a support or complement and not as a suplement of materials of class. In that way, we would be avoiding to screw everything up when technology fails by having a plan B.
