Google Drive (also known as Google Docs) now let you quickly preview more than 30 file types including PowerPoint presentations (.ppt presentations). This is great to quickly flip between files until you find the one you want. To see a preview of a Google document or .ppt presentation, right-click on the file name and select “preview”. Once the preview window is open, you can click on the arrows on either side to flip to other files. And right from within the preview, you can watch video files or scroll through multi-page documents.

I was an early adopter of Prezi (I think), and am now starting to get a bit tired of the predictable jumping around. It's like cinnamon or something. A wonderful spice but in small doses and not every day! I found that I returned to PPT, using punchy images (thanks Common creative section on Flickr!!) and short / one-word statements. Very powerful

"This evening Google announced a great update to Google Play Books. You can now upload your own PDFs and EPUB files to Google Play Books. Upload your files and you can read them on your iPad or Android device with the Google Play Books app (click here for iOS app, click here for Android app). When you upload your files you will be able to bookmark, highlight, and the dictionary tools just like you can with any other book in the Google Books app. Directions for uploading files to Google Play Books are included below." So what's different about this (in the classroom, say) compared with making pdf file of stories childre write and uploading to Kindle? What am I missing?

Mind mapping is a method that works for quite a lot of people. Brain storming, idea mapping, thought generation, think tanks – call it what you will. Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? You could use these for your own purposes, or “convert” those large flip charts into a smaller, digital version.
Research shows that mind maps (graphic organizers) are effective during all stages of learning. You can use them as an introduction to a unit, during the unit for continued note taking, or at the conclusion as a formative assessment to make sure your students truly understand the material.
I use mind mapping all the time and look definitely look into these apps.
