Studying is not the intended function of this application, however, by uploading lecture slides as images, or taking pictures of the board during class, then uploading these images to Pixntell, would allow you to create your very own custom Flashcards. By recording your own audio notes to accompany the images, you could create short movies that could act as bitesize recap tools to support your revision, or prompts for studying, or a visual plan for your coursework.

"Het afgelopen jaar hield ik goed in de gaten wat er HOT is bij mijn leerlingen. Ik ben van mening dat je als leerkracht bij de tijd moet blijven. Ook op het gebied van de nieuwste (sociale) apps en netwerken. Het hoort immers bij de huidige generatie kinderen. De kinderen zijn vaak bekend met verschillende apps en communiceren graag digitaal. Zodra ik iets nieuws hoor, dan probeer ik dat direct uit en onderzoek ik de meerwaarde voor het onderwijs.

In deze blog beperk ik mij tot sociale apps en netwerken die mijn leerlingen gebruiken. Niet alles wat ik beschrijf is direct te gebruiken voor het onderwijs, maar geeft wel een beeld wat er HOT is onder kinderen..."

"(...) The Snowflake Unified School District has given me a task to design a simple and shareable resource that would allow parents and students to register online.  Using the "autoCrat" system allows me to put a Google form online that when submitted sends the student's answers to a Google spreadsheet.  This then triggers an event to where it fills in a Google document that resembles our current paper registration forms.  Once the registration form is filled it is stored in one of my Google Drive folders where it can then be printed and handed to the parents to sign the documents.  The greatest parts of this is that forms can now come in with legible handwriting..."

I was looking for an easy way to have students and teachers put files in my dropbox account. Of course, there's http://DropItTo.me which allows senders to upload files through a web interface but on an iPad, that's limited to images and videos in your camera roll.

 

If only there was a way to email files to my dropbox directly. Well, there's https://sendtodropbox.com and that's exactly what it's for. The problem... the less than desirable email address you're given, like felix_9048rq@sendtodropbox.com. So I got to thinking.

 

Did you know that if you have a google mail address (gmail or your own domain), there's a neat trick that allows you to have more email address aliases without setting anything up? All you need to do is add a + and anything after it. For example: anything sent to felix+hello@jacomino.com will arrive at felix@jacomino.com. 

 

What I did next is, in my gmail settings, I added a forwarding email address and used the sendtodropbox address felix_9048rq@sendtodropbox.com. But wait, I need to verify that I own that account! Will that be a problem? Not without one little setting change. In SendToDropbox.com options, be sure to check BOTH "Include HTML email body (if available)" AND "Include plain text email body (if available)."

 

After doing so, send the verification email from your gmail > settings > forwarding and check your dropbox for the email body which will contain the verification code. 

 

Once verified, create a gmail filter. Mine was simple. Any email sent to felix+db@jacomino.com, forward to felix_9048rq@sendtodropbox.com. I also selected to skip the inbox and add a label, but that was my personal preference. Feel free to customize as you see fit.

 

I tested by sending a small file from another email address to felix+db@jacomino.com and voilà, it worked! The file is uploaded to Dropbox > Apps >Attachments folder.

Yahoo email also has a connection with Dropbox.  Dropbox is an excellent storage place for your documents you want to have access to at anytime, anywhere!

When you visit GeoSettr you'll see two screens. A map with a Pegman on your left and the Street View imagery for the Pegman's current location on your right. Move the Pegman around, zoom-in if you like, until you find the location that you want people to guess. When you've found the right location click "set round" to save the location. When you've set five rounds (locations) your game is assigned a URL that you can distribute.

Van Gogh was truthfully the most prolific master painter of the 2nd.half of the 19th century. He died very young at the age of 37, but managed to paint hundreds of fantastic paintings. In the last three years of his life, his paintings became outstanding while his mental illness was aggravating. Nevertheless, he maintained till the last moment, a painting style full of colors and almost joyful.
