Los entornos personales de aprendizaje #PLE en la escuela

Los entornos personales de aprendizaje #PLE en la escuela | Educación a la medida. | Scoop.it

Understanding personal learning networks: Their structure, content and the networking skills to optimally use them

Understanding personal learning networks: Their structure, content and the networking skills to optimally use them | Educación a la medida. | Scoop.it

Networking is a key skill in professional careers, supporting the individual’s growth and learning. However, little is known about how professionals intentionally manage the connections in their personal networks and which factors influence their decisions in connecting with others for the purpose of learning. In this article, we present a model of personal professional networking for creating a personal learning network, based on an investigation through a literature study, semi–structured interviews and a survey.

Self-Directed Learning Well Explained and 27 Actions

Self-Directed Learning Well Explained and 27 Actions | Educación a la medida. | Scoop.it

TeachThought.com has a series of posts about self-directed learning by Terry Heick and the staff, well worth a read! “

“Learning is most effective when it’s personalised; it means something to the learner. That happens when people feel they are participants and investors in their own learning, shaping what and how they learn, and able to articulate its value to them.” — Leadbeater, Charles

It is interesting how few classroom teachers and administrators are aware of what self-directed learning is. SDL is an imperative for our children.

Avery's curator insight, March 25, 2013 11:56 PM

My Thoughts:

You can't teach someone how to learn. You can give them helpful tips and advice, but a single structure for education is not going to work for everyone. It's so much harder for people to learn their true potential, to reach their goals, when they're only shown a single path to them. You show them the path through the forest, but what if there's a rock face nearby that also leads up to where they want to go, and what if they happen to be a fantastic rock climber? It just makes more sense to show someone a map if you can, instead of directing them towards only one path.

The Six Steps to Personalize Learning workshop can be personalized for your school, district, or region. We come to you to guide the process. Several of the ideas and strategies in the steps include:

>> Universal Design for Learning

>> Class Learning Snapshot

>> Personal Learner Profile

>> Class Learning Toolkit

>> Redesigned learning environments

>> A repository of transformed lessons and projects aligned to CCSS

>> Inquiry-based strategies

>> Skills to choose the appropriate resources and tools to support teaching and learning.

As facilitators, we coach you in person and online as you apply the steps in your classroom. After the workshop is over,  you can continue ongoing discussions in an online Community of Practice (the Personalize Learning Collaboratory) with other educators from around the world.

Una enseñanza graduada que ignore sistemáticamente las diferencias individuales -lo que los norteamericanos denominan"one size fits all"- es, simplemente, una enseñanza inadecuada para promover el desarrollo óptimo de las personas, de todas las personas.

Peer Review

Peer Review | Educación a la medida. | Scoop.it
Created by Laura Guertin, Pennsylvania State University Brandywine "For generations, the academic community has relied on peer review as a way of enhancing the knowledge base and encouraging serious scholarship. Peer review can offer many of the same benefit to students... [and] computers [can] mediate the interaction among peers." - Gehringer (2000)

Why use peer review - students improve science communication skills

Peer review is useful for instructors of large introductory-level courses that want to challenge their students to think critically, synthesize information, and communicate science in nontechnical language. Through use of technological tools, electronic peer review provides the option of not restricting the peer-review process to a particular location and/or time, while the grading load is lessened on an instructor.
