"This article presents the analysis and classification of different studies carried out to measure the media literacy skills of citizens. The text is presented in three parts. The first part presents the main theoretical categories of the analysis that define the concept of media literacy and the major frameworks designed for the study of media competences. In the second part, the article examines a group of studies that propose different frameworks that assess media literacy competences. The analyzed studies are classified according to their assessment trends and methodology. Finally, the text identifies media competences that receive higher attention in the studies and the main gaps according to the perspectives pointed out in the explored frameworks.(...)"
Commissioned by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC-IPTS), in collaboration with DG CONNECT, Telecentre-Europe and the University of Washington are conducting the MIREIA online survey (see underneath) to provide a ‘map’ of telecentres, libraries and other eInclusion actors that operate in the EU.
The survey is part of the larger research project MIREIA (Measuring the Impact of eInclusion Actors on Digital Literacy, Skills and Inclusion goals of the Digital Agenda for Europe) which aims at better understanding the role of eInclusion intermediary actors and wants to create adequate instruments to facilitate the demonstration of their outcomes and their contribution to the achievement of European eInclusion policy goals.

"The European Media Literacy Education Study (EMEDUS) has launched a new website which brings together different contents related to media literacy, likespecialized databases, events, videos, etc., and the earliest results achieved by the project.
This new tool gathers all the information recorded during the research in order to develop itself into a center for information and exchange of knowledge with the aim of becoming a point of reference in Europe in the field of media literacy.
Compared to the previous blog, this new website includes reports that perform a comparative analysis of media education in national curricula of the 27 countries of the European Union (EU), divided into Formal Education, Informal Education and Media Inclusion.
The website also contains three large databases concerning Experts, Organizations and Publications related with media literacy, which are spread on maps to facilitate their geographic location and access to data."
