Quitting Apps in iOS Can Actually Worsen Battery Life - lifehacker

Quitting Apps in iOS Can Actually Worsen Battery Life - lifehacker | Edu Technology | Scoop.it
It's long been prescribed that when your iPhone's battery is running poorly that you close out all the running apps to help preserve battery life (we've mentioned it before). That makes sense if you're using a computer, but as writer (and former Genius Bar technician) Scotty Loveless points out, that's simply not the case in iOS.

"Francis has been busy. Yes it's another cover of a classic 80's track, but this time, with the video split into 4 video 'tracks' it becomes much easier to see exactly how Francis composes each track. GarageBand is the crown jewel of iPad apps, especially for those looking to take their first steps into the very large and beautiful field of music creation with the iPad."

How to Buy Ebooks From Anywhere and Still Read Them All in One Place

How to Buy Ebooks From Anywhere and Still Read Them All in One Place | Edu Technology | Scoop.it
Most ebook sellers try to lock you into a particular ecosystem. If you don't mind buying from the same company every time, this isn't too bad, but you lose the ability to comparison shop, as well as making it difficult to switch apps. Fortunately, there's a way around this problem.

Why & How to Green Screen in class - IPAD 4 SCHOOLS

Why & How to Green Screen in class - IPAD 4 SCHOOLS | Edu Technology | Scoop.it

"Finding interesting ways to evaluate, reflect and report on work and projects can be tricky. Many students struggle to engage with the reflection properly as it is often a dry, unentertaining end to any unit or project. But that’s where the Green Screen App can help. (How-to help sheet below)

Remember:

People don’t learn from experience.
People learn when reflecting on experience.
People learn more when they can witness their own reflection."

What's a Makerspace - Makerspace.com

What's a Makerspace - Makerspace.com | Edu Technology | Scoop.it

"To describe them simply, makerspaces are community centers with tools. Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone. These spaces can take the form of loosely-organized individuals sharing space and tools, for-profit companies, non-profit corporations, organizations affiliated with or hosted within schools, universities or libraries, and more. All are united in the purpose of providing access to equipment, community, and education, and all are unique in exactly how they are arranged to fit the purposes of the community they serve.

Makerspaces represent the democratization of design, engineering, fabrication and education. They are a fairly new phenomenon, but are beginning to produce projects with significant national impacts."
