Podcasting

Podcasting | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it

Podcasting is useful for recording a teacher’s lesson or a student conversation. It can be used to create a homework assignment or even be part of a test. Students can use podcasts to interview each other about what they learned during the week. They can create a newscast, hold a debate, or run a radio show. Schools can use podcasts to make announcements via their Web site. Students could read their own essays or stories. Podcasts can also be used to record guest speakers and make their presentations available online.

Top 10 Geography EdApps for Kids | Balefire Labs | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it
When we're reviewing educational apps, we find that the toughest academic subject to find high quality educational apps for is Social Studies. It seems like there must be a million drill-and-kill flag apps, but really strong instructional content is much more rare than we'd like. To make your hunt for high quality geography apps a bit easier, today we're sharing our 10 top rated geography apps. These apps have stronger instructional design than the bulk of the geography apps on the market that we've seen. Hope they're helpful to you in finding resources and helpful to your kids for learning geography! Here we go, starting with number 10.... #10 TapQuiz Maps World Edition By Rolzer, this app presents a printed name of a state, province or country and the learner must find that location on a map. This app does not have adapting levels of difficulty, nor is it mastery-based. But it does have error remediation and detailed performance reports. We recommend this app for ages 10-19+

Salad Selfies & Art History | iPad Art Room | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it
Providing an opportunity for students to connect with portraiture through the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1526-1593) is engaging stuff.
This Italian painter is most famous for his imaginative faces made up entirely of fruit, vegetables, meat and other objects of significance, and they continue to be a source of wonder for children of all ages.

Students can use the Pictoboldo app to create their own digital collages.
