Here are some insights from the author of this article:

"UDL Studio offers templates to scaffold you or your students as you create content using multimodal elements, such as text, image¸ video, audio, and animation. You can explore the project library to view previous projects created by UDL studio users.

We really like the tips and resources page which asks you to reflect carefully on how the use of the digital tool enhances children’s understanding of text; enriches the reading experience; and represents information in an engaging manner. The plethora of free digital tools include:

>> Recording and editing software

>> Video search engines and editing software

>> Sources for images

iPad As....A list of Apps by Specific Learning Goals | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it

In order to help educators integrate iPads effectively, we have compiled a list of apps focused on learning goals consistent with the CRCD framework. While many of these apps have also appeared in our iPads in the Classroom section, this list is driven by specific learning goals that promote critical-thinking, creativity, collaboration, and the creation of student-centric learning environments.

10 iPad Essentials for Photographers | iPad.AppStorm | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it

"I have owned an iPad for quite some time now, and found it to be an excellent tool for both amateur photographers like myself and professionals alike. Sure, an iPad will never be able to replace a computer for serious photo editing (well, for me, anyway,) but I feel that it has definitely earned a place in the discerning photographers kit bag."

I wish when I was in high school I was more encouraged to learn math, science and computer science. And more girls are needed in this field.
Jenn Alevy's curator insight, May 14, 11:04 PM

For some reason computer programing as a career seemed to take a back seat to other math/science/computer careers, esp.during the late 90s. Now it is time to get back to that, a million programers needed in the next 10 years is a great opportunity for many kids, I hope they do more to target more girls, not just boys.

Krysta Hammond's curator insight, May 15, 10:29 AM

Great insights from some faces my students can really relate to. The video really captivated my student's attention and got them excited about learning to code and the possibilities it can lead them into. Thanks for sharing and I will pass on again!

11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad

11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad | Edtech PK-12 | Scoop.it

Mind mapping is a method that works for quite a lot of people. Brain storming, idea mapping, thought generation, think tanks – call it what you will. Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? You could use these for your own purposes, or “convert” those large flip charts into a smaller, digital version.

Via Baiba Svenca, Wilmer Ramírez, msayrach
Lee Hall's curator insight, May 16, 2:16 PM

Research shows that mind maps (graphic organizers) are effective during all stages of learning. You can use them as an introduction to a unit, during the unit for continued note taking, or at the conclusion as a formative assessment to make sure your students truly understand the material.

AlGonzalezinfo's curator insight, May 17, 7:19 AM

I use mind mapping all the time and look definitely look into these apps.
