"“There’s an App for that”… Well actually, sometimes there isn’t. Sometimes the App you want is the one in your head, not in the App Store. This is where German startup “Cleverlize” steps in to help educators create their own custom apps… In minutes… With no programming required at all!" Via John Evans Delete the scoop?

Social media posts and videos are cropping up in academic publications more and more. This chart shows just how to cite social media with ease. Via Kathleen Cercone
Kathleen Cercone's curator insight,
YouTube has progressed beyond cat videos. Twitter is more than just sharing what you’re eating for dinner. All of the major social networks are keystones of our online life and make up a big portion of who we are. So it’s no surprise that there are now guidelines on how to cite social media using the MLA and APA standards. In fact, I’m surprised it’s taken this long to see this topic hit the mainstream. The Amarillo Area Center for Advanced Learning in Texas is replacing textbooks with digital open educational resources (OER) for its math and science classes using iPads. Via Chris Carter

I LOVE this! Excuses for high textbook prices used to be the printing and shipping costs. When textbooks went online they barely dropped in price. Well, technology is going to tranform the publishing monopolies like it did the music industry. Expect a fierce fight.
Chris Carter's curator insight,
May 22, 8:12 PM
The specialty high school in Texas recently implemented a 1:1 iPad initiative, and the OER pilot program is intended to help cut costs while providing students with access to high-quality, easily updatable learning resources on their iPads. The district selected a free, Web-based solution, Net Texts, to provide teachers with access to a library of more than 21,000 free OER learning resources from Curriki, Khan Academy, and several universities and colleges.

"UDL Studio offers templates to scaffold you or your students as you create content using multimodal elements, such as text, image¸ video, audio, and animation. You can explore the project library to view previous projects created by UDL studio users.
We really like the tips and resources page which asks you to reflect carefully on how the use of the digital tool enhances children’s understanding of text; enriches the reading experience; and represents information in an engaging manner. The plethora of free digital tools include:

In order to help educators integrate iPads effectively, we have compiled a list of apps focused on learning goals consistent with the CRCD framework. While many of these apps have also appeared in our iPads in the Classroom section, this list is driven by specific learning goals that promote critical-thinking, creativity, collaboration, and the creation of student-centric learning environments.
