Select and Speak is a handy extension for Google Chrome that allows users to listen to text from almost any website. The extension has a list of voices (accents) to choose from; you can choose any of the voices that you recognize the clearest and the easiest. Via Nik Peachey

Works very fine in English - Useless in Danish and probably all other languages beside English

TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) regularly tests available apps and recommends apps that teachers should be using. TCEA maintains a list of recommended apps in a shared document via Google Docs. The list is organized by subject area and free apps are color coded in white.
