Emotional Intelligence and Why It Matters in Leadership Development

Emotional Intelligence and Why It Matters in Leadership Development | Higher Education | Scoop.it

It would be remiss to say technical skills and knowledge aren’t important to be a great leader in your industry. What is often overlooked in leadership development is soft skills. While being a thought leader or a subject matter expert is incredibly important to being a great leader, the ability to understand your peers and those you manage can make or break a person new or currently in a management position.

Whether you are at the beginning of your career or seasoned in your department, understanding Emotional Intelligence and knowing why is essential to becoming a great leader.

MFaculty's insight:

Emotional Intelligence is more than just the latest buzz term to surface in the leadership vernacular, it is a studied, and validated characteristic that differentiates authentic leaders from the crowd.

The audio and video quality was superior to any of the generic screen capture applications I've come across in awhile. The share feature seems very much straightforward, and user friendly.
Overall, this looks to be an interesting tool, however it does not seem to work from IOS mobile devices.

The featured videos did not appear to make use of the whiteboard feature (from what I observed during the few minutes I watched), so that's something to play with.

It's worth checking out though, and I'm particularly interested in hosting, in addition to recording limitations.

How do colors affect us when we buy things? The latest research reveals the science of colors in marketing and how to use it for your advantage:
MFaculty's insight:

The science of colors... It's well known that we are visual creatures. Studies have shown that we rely more on what we see, than what we hear, smell, touch,, or taste in most instances. This is probably why we make snap decisions about our food, based on what it looks like.

We we do the same with cars, animals, and even other people. Have you ever wondered whether there was a scientific way to effect people's choices based on colors? If so, then you need to check out this article, but specifically the infographic regarding colors and how they translate to most people.
