Two of Scotland's oldest printed books acquired for nation | Edinburgh Stories | Scoop.it
The National Library of Scotland has announced that it has purchased two of the first ever works to be printed in Scotland more than 500 years ago. The move has been hailed as "a major acquisition that will guarantee public access to an essential piece of Scottish history." The two books are the Aberdeen Breviary, so-called because it was commissioned by the Bishop of Aberdeen, and contains services and readings for use in Scottish churches, and a small 16-page book called the Compassio Beate M
