"Teacher expectations can affect the performance of the children they teach. The first psychologist to systematically study this was a Harvard professor named Robert Rosenthal, who in 1964 did a wonderful experiment at an elementary school south of San Francisco. The idea was to figure out what would happen if teachers were told that certain kids in their class were destined to succeed, so Rosenthal took a normal IQ test and dressed it up as a different test."

iPads have certainly become a highly desired commodity in education. Apple is reporting that schools are purchasing iPads by a ratio of 2:1 over MacBooks. However, that rush to purchase the latest technologies often precedes the careful planning and preparation that’s crucial to their success as educational tools.

As teachers continue to explore student centered learning and student negotiated inquiry, it is important that students have tools that can help them work together, investigate, and create explanations of their deep understanding. iPads are a great tool for those goals and this helps schools see how best to begin that process... with careful planning!

Middletown,NY school district won a huge technology grant for 4 years. They are planning to go with purchasing 1:1 mobile devices. Kudos for that!
