It is a multi-track audio editing app that is as robust as you will ever need (unless of course you teach audio production). A Collaborative Guide to Best Digital Learning Practices for K-12 | DMLcentral

A Collaborative Guide to Best Digital Learning Practices for K-12 | DMLcentral | EDUcational Chatter | Scoop.it

To teach responsibly in a digital age, we have to respect what our tools can do to help us learn together -- and what tools alone cannot do. We need to be prepared to adapt them to our specific needs as teachers and learners. We need tools that are as open as possible, that are designed to encourage students to participate and not simply consume. And we need to support teachers who are also learning how to use new tools for the most innovative, imaginative, interactive teaching.

Search Education – Google

Search Education – Google | EDUcational Chatter | Scoop.it

How effective are you or even your students at searching the Internet?  Can they find academic sources quickly and efficiently?   If not, Google's Search Education site may be the resource needed.

Google has established a "Search Education" resource site containing Lesson Plans and Activities along with  links to Live Trainings focused on improving search skills.

The lesson plan section has been established using a three step tier.  The steps represent learner levels (skill set) are "Beginner", "Intermediate", and "Advanced".  These three steps are available in each category composing the lesson plan options.  Speaking of the categories, each one can be seen as higher order thinking skills.  The categories are:

1.  Picking the right search terms

2.  Understanding search results

3.  Narrowing a search to get the best results

4.  Searching for evidence for research tasks

5.  Evaluating credibility of sources

Paper by FiftyThree Review | Mac|Life | EDUcational Chatter | Scoop.it

"There are two schools of thought when it comes to iOS apps: textured, skeuomorphic designs that try (often too hard) to create a level of real-world familiarity for the user, or clean, sleek interfaces with modern flourishes and a heavy emphasis on functionality.

On Pedagogical Manipulation

On Pedagogical Manipulation | EDUcational Chatter | Scoop.it

Encouraging learning is an act of subtle manipulation. When we enter a classroom, we’re stepping onto a stage. This is true no matter how student-centered our classroom is, because our students are also stepping onto a stage (or into an audience). Even in the most open learning environments, we all play roles: the teacher, the student, the devil’s advocate, the reporter, the questioner, the dictator, the grader, the teacher’s pet. It’s in the careful modulation of these roles that we can actively control a learning environment.

Rules of Engagement; or, How to Build Better Online Discussion | Online Learning | HYBRID PEDAGOGY | EDUcational Chatter | Scoop.it

"All participation is not equal. Digital media prompt us for comments, but in an academic setting we should harness this cultural habit to teach the difference between expressing opinion and authentic engagement. Professors often feel unfulfilled by poorly designed peer review exercises with their students. They complain: “The students don’t offer anything helpful. They just write things like ‘I like this part,’ or ‘this doesn’t make any sense,’ or ‘good paper!’” In peer review and in online interaction, we should teach and model for students the best methods of intellectual engagement..."
