Excellent concept map! Check out how Pamela Lloyd describes it :-) Pamela D Lloyd's insight:An excellent overview of learning theories, providing not just a synopsis of each, but the connections of each to the principles researchers behind each and the general field of study. The overlapping and interconnecting nature of the ideas is also suggested by the network of lines between the summaries and the people. Another useful feature are links from the pedagogical theory titles and researcher names to the Wikipedia articles for each.

Unfortunately we find that what happens the most, especially in schools is that educators and administrators tend to shy away from this responsibility and limit their teaching to the way they have been taught, thus excluding all the elements that are now pronouncing us as digital citizens in a society.

I realize this post from Nik Peachey is dated November 2011 but it does still connect with learing in 2013. I find some of the recommended sites valuable options for those of us that facilitate online courses whether it is for K12, post secondary, or graduate students.
Among the 10 tools listed by Nik I am most interested in reviewing vyou.com and tricider.com. Here are Nik's descriptions for the two sites:
You can use Vyou embed a video booth that students can go at any time of day to ask you questions. The video booth gives the impression that you are always available and builds some presence on your course. The messages students send you are delivered to an inbox and you are notified so that you can answer them. Vyou also has a very handy mobile app so you can answer the questions where ever you are on your iPhone or other mobile device. Tricider is a great tool for crowd sourcing opinion. You start with a single question problem and then you or your students can add possible solutions to the problem. Students can also add some pros and cons to the solutions and vote on the ones they prefer. These can be embedded into webpages and can give far more structure to online discussion than things like threaded forums which often become garbled and confusing. Delete the scoop?

TeachThought has provided another resourceful post that should be included in all pre-service, new, and veteran teacher pedagogy toolkits. The staff has compiled 14 Bloom's Taxonomy Posters that included a wealth of definitions and verbage. Be sure to checkout the Blooms Infogrpahic that identifies in-class instruction and shares various assessment ideas.

MakeUseOf :: Adobe Premiere. Final Cut Pro. Sony Vegas. AVID. All of these are high-end video editors that all have one attribute in common: they cost money. In an ideal world, there would be an equally high-end freeware video editing system out there. Unfortunately, most of the “editors” that do make these claims are embarrassingly poor and of little to no use.
However, Shotcut may be a shining star in the world of free video editors. It’s an open-source, cross-platform editing system that is incredibly intricate, and it’s loaded with an arsenal of features so hot that they will melt your face off. More appropriately, Shotcut is a freeware video toolkit that is actually useful and won’t hold you back.
Shotcut offers basic cutting and trimming capabilities along with a zillion different codecs available for export. For the record, these are professional-level file formats, and you could even use Shotcut as a higher-end file converter from time to time, if needed. Also included is the ability to perform basic color correction with a three-wheel user interface, an eyedropper tool for post-production white balancing, and a few filters to choose from.
On the input side of things, Shotcut can receive footage via SDI, HDMI, and more. Timecode is supported, and the app will typically allow for native editing. Simply put, Shotcut is a fantastic piece of software to keep in your editing suite. I wouldn’t recommend it as your go-to editor, but it definitely has a place in the video production world.

I have just began testing this recommendation by Richard Byrne on Free Technology 4 Teachers. But in the time I have taken to test the web resource, I have found it to live up to the billing of syncrhonizing notes to the video. Now the video used was from YouTube and the site does have an option for other videos. So, I will be looking further into what other video sources it will work with while synchronizing one's notes to Google Drive.

This new twist by Wikispaces looks quite promising when it comes to a more interactive and learning management type of environment. Wikispaces Classroom allows for the integration of News Feeds, Projects section, Assessment piece, and more. For those of us already using Wikispaces we can migrate our current wikis into a Classroom format by completing the process through the settings area.
