If Senate and House Republicans have their way, they will eliminate the estate tax, which affects only the wealthiest 0.2% of taxpayers. Repealing the estate tax would hurt our economy and be fundamentally unfair. Senate Democrats: Stand with Ben and Jerry—and stay united against the repeal.
GR: The estate tax has been shrinking as the number of wealthy taxpayers swells. We actually need to increase the tax, but for now we have to prevent Congress from shrinking it again.

Coastal development might have slowed during the 20-year period studied. All the best sites have been built out, and portions of the remnants are protected.

Uncertain of consequences of greenhouse gas emissions, a prudent species would have accepted worst-case model projections and begun reducing emissions decades ago. Of all animals on Earth, we are the only species with the intelligence required to make long-term projections.
