Jason Furman: Shutdown a 'self-inflicted wound'

Jason Furman: Shutdown a 'self-inflicted wound' | Economics | Scoop.it
The White House estimated Tuesday that the government shutdown will "subtract" from job growth, with 120,000 fewer jobs through Oct. 12 because of the effects of the shutdown.
AP Macro's insight:

After the decrese in the unemployment percentages, I think the government shut down will hurt more than expected once the numbers have been recieved for this month due to the fact that there were numerous days where there were limited resources working on decreasing unemployment even more. I feel like with unemployment, you can't focus on it, then stop for a while just to focus on it again later. I think this issue needs constant watching and it didn't get that during the shut down. I think there will be more disgruntled employees and people that "revolt" due to what happened and the numbers wont' turn out as good as they could have been had there been no government shut down. Canadian games industry accounts for $2.3 billion of GDP | VG247

Go, Canada! RT "@VG247: Canadian games industry third largest in the world, added $2.3 billion to GDP in 2012 http://t.co/iHHFqxLQty"
AP Macro's insight:

As each year progresses, the Canadian gaming industry continues to grow by approximately 5% each year. It has contributed largely to the GDP in each year, mainly 2012. Because the industry is growing increasingly over the years, the GDP has potential to continuously grow each year as well. However having one industry like this booming could be dangerous because if something threatens this industry then Canada would have to cut a lot of job and that would seriously deter their growth and hinder them. - EM
