The distracted mind

The distracted mind | Economic depression in europe | Scoop.it
Everyone knows we’re not supposed to
multitask while driving, but do you know why? Refraining from texting, changing
the radio, or talking to other people in the car isn’t just cautionary advice
from your parents and driver’s ed teachers. It turns out your brain literally
can’t focus on too much at once. Let’s learn why.

Multitasking is probably just a "nice idea" - it does not work in real life. I remember watching an Oprah show - or was it Dr. Phil? - talking about how many people die in car accidents while using their phones.

Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade based on a partnership between producers and traders, businesses and consumers.

Fairtrade offers producers a better deal and improved terms of trade. It allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and invest in their future, their environment and their communities. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty and ensure environmental sustainability through their everyday buying decisions.

Fairtrade is the world’s most recognised ethical label that aims to connect disadvantaged producers with businesses and consumers at fair prices. They have been working with farmers and workers in India for over 19 years to supply Fairtrade products to the international markets, returning nearly Rs. 20 additional crores to Indian farmers and workers in the last year alone.

Whether you’re a farmer, a consumer, a civil society organisation, a retailer or a business, there is a place for you in their growing movement.

Please take the time to browse these pages to find out more about the FAIRTRADE Mark, and what it means.
