For those who love to pair spectacular views with an adrenaline rush, a ride on the recently opened Skyslide is the perfect combination of both. Visitors can experience Skyslide’s unparalleled, panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles from within an enclosed glass slide that is suspended 1,000 feet above ground. The slide begins on the 70th floor of the U.S. Bank Tower, the tallest building on the West Coast, and extends 45 feet down to the 69th floor. The San Gabriel Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and even Catalina Island can be observed on clear days.

Ordinary graphite gets a sharper outfit with designer Andrew Pyza's pencil+, a pencil holder and extender that includes an eraser at one end and a sharpener at the other. The tool fits any average pencil from full-size down to 14mm long, and any time the tip breaks, all you have to do is unscrew the nub and spin it through the sharpener before getting back to writing or doodling.

Aitchison earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and her Masters in Human Factors Engineering from Wright State, all while completing five co-op tours (special internships) at NASA. But don’t worry, none of this has gone to her head. When Aitchison tests out a spacesuit, she still puts it on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us.
