In the last decade, the bachelorette party has become a ubiquitous rite of passage for a bride. Through this ritual, the bride-to-be is initiated into the role of a wife by her friends in a fascinating twist on traditional gender roles. The women celebrate their friend’s commitment by engaging in outwardly ‘masculine’ behavior, signifying that a woman has as much sexual freedom to lose as her partner. A ritual attempting to reinforce relationships among women is performed in a conventionally atypical female way- through a night of sexual games and indulgent drinking.

Rasmus is a graphic design student in his third year of study at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, Sweden, and the man responsible for the aforementioned books. He’s weeks away from graduation, so busy slaving away on final projects, but he managed to take a few minutes out of his rigorous schedule to answer a couple of questions and talk us through his daily routine.

Every year, I go to my alma mater and give a lecture for 3rd-year advertising-photography students on the business of photography. At this two-hour lectures, I cover all sorts of points about the ups and downs of being a busy commercial photographer in NYC, and also try to tell them straight facts of what the “real world” is like. Here is a summary of some of the most important words of wisdom I try to pass on to young photographers.
Please note that I’m talking about commercial photography in the realm of what I shoot. These tips may or may not be applicable to other photography fields.

The Sound of Graphic Design | BA (Hons) University of Lincoln UK | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

First year students have been exploring the sound of graphic design through a series of workshops and projects that introduce experimental image making with sound and music as a starting point. The aim is to encourage students playfulness and the conceptual representation of abstract (non visual) influences upon visual communication. We played a variety of tracks including Jimi Hendrix, John Cage, Bo Ningen, Pink Floyd and The Ethiopians to encourage a diverse approach to mark making, composition and use of materials to capture the rhythm and tone of the music.
