Ren Hang Anatomy of the image

Ren Hang Anatomy of the image | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

The revelation of early 2014, Ren Hang is a provocative young  Chinese “photographer and poet”  who explores the possibilities of the body with an uninhibited sexuality and a playful, stylized shamelessness. Fabrice Mabillot Filles

Fabrice Mabillot Filles | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

For 20 years I was an art director for leading lingerie and swimwear brands, and I was always a little jealous of the photographers. This is how, indirectly, I learned my craft. My love for the girls was insatiable.

Ren Hang | NUE Galerie (Paris)

Ren Hang | NUE Galerie (Paris) | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

“Nudity is not published in China,” Beijing-based photographer Ren Hang told Pas Un Autre. “An exhibition was canceled, someone spat at my work, cameras getting confiscated by the police, and almost going to jail.”

Ren Hang’s photos contain a lot of nudity, but it’s not really pornographic titillation. Pop mysticism? (Erupting in clusters of birds) Pop physics? (Arranged in precarious piles) Absurdism? (Ass up, head in a ground hole) Avant-garde lite? (Drenched in red, squatting with flowers) Ok, it’s a bit Ryan McGinley with the blue smoke stacks in the woods, but… It works.

Ren Hang’s new exhibit opens at the Paris NUE gallery later this month. “La Chine a Nue,” Ren Hang, Jan 17 – Mar 14, NUE gallerie, Paris

Photographer comes to St. Pete to photograph the nude in public places

Photographer comes to St. Pete to photograph the nude in public places | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

Drouillard, an Ann Arbor, Mich., artist has photographed nubile young women he met through word of mouth, and oddly shaped older men who replied to his ads on Craigslist.

In impromptu public photoshoots, Drouillard directs as the models pose, walk or sit for coffee in public. He captures the public reaction, or the lack of it. In his best photos, the naked models blend into a city scene as they cross the street, as if the models were in a dream rushing to work before they, or anyone else, noticed they had forgotten their clothes.
