15 artists create new work to mark London Underground's 150th birthday | What's new in Visual Communication? | Scoop.it

Back in February, a sumptuous exhibition of vintage London Underground posters went on show at the London Transport Museum as part of the celebrations around the Tube’s 150th anniversary. But as well as raiding their archives for visual treats, the organisation has also commissioned 15 new posters from the likes of Lawrence Weiner, Sarah Lucas, Wolfgagng Tillmans and Gillian Wearing to commemorate this milestone.

Since January, American graphics association AIGA has been celebrating its centennial in style, launching websites, events across the country and a beautiful exhibition curated by Monotype celebrating 100 years in type design. For its Centennial Gala, New York agency Collins created a book and installation commemorating the organisation's past and its 2014 medallists.
