But Estonian photographer Kaupo Kikkas was rewarded for his efforts, capturing some amazing snaps of an unusual sight, hidden just a few miles away from the popular tourist resort.

More than ten years ago a French visitor decided it would be the perfect location for his bizarre project, according to Kikkas.

An Internet sensation was touched off this week by Russian photographer Vadim Makhorov and a group of his friends -- the group ignored regulations prohibiting the public from climbing on the Pyramids at Giza, Egypt, and came away with spectacular photos.

Morsi, along with fourteen other members of the Muslim Brotherhood, face charges for the death, last December, of ten Egyptian citizens. And last week, on The New Yorker’sInstagram feed, the photographer Laura El-Tantawy provided a different view of Cairo, away from the riotous scenes in and outside of the courtroom; as she wrote, a glimpse of “the beauty amid the chaos.”

What Yuri Kozyrev has captured in these photos is the abrupt, almost neck-snapping changes that exploded in Cairo’s public spaces in the first days of July.  First the city erupted in rejoicing in the hours after the Egyptian military removed President Mohamed Morsi from office July 3, his one-year tenure eclipsed by the most massive public demonstrations in the nation’s history three days earlier.
