Infographic: Personalization vs Individualization vs Differentiation

Infographic: Personalization vs Individualization vs Differentiation | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

When learning is personal, teaching and learning changes. Teachers' and learners' roles change. Last January, we created a chart comparing Personalization vs Individualization vs Differentiation and a report that explained the difference between these three terms including teacher-centered vs. learner-centered approaches. This chart has been downloaded tens of thousands of times from all over the world and prompted discussions around some of these questions:

* What does personalized or personal learning mean to you?

* How do you see teachers' and learners' roles changing?

* How does a school or district know they are Ready to Transform learning?

* What is Assessment AS Learning?

* Can personalization help close the achievement gap?

* Where are the conversations, models, and examples of personalizing learning?

These questions were part of an interview from Patricia Gomes, a reporter from Porvir in Brazil who wrote an article August 12, 2012 about the chart and resulted in an article and infographic in Portuguese. We translated the infographic for our English readers and welcome your comments.

INFOGRAPHIC: Stealth IT | The Consumerization of IT | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

The mobile transformation is at the intersection of every large IT trend including cloud, big data and application modernization. Think about the major changes ITwill face over the next five to ten years.

As more people become comfortable with technology, new strains will be placed on the IT group, which will have to adapt to meet evolving business demands. Tablets and smart phones will continue to be white-hot technologies that spans between the consumer and business worlds.

CIOs needs to tackle issues such as BYOD and the consumerization of IT so they can build a stronger partnership with the workforce in order to tackle future transformational projects.

10 Things You May Not Know About YouTube

10 Things You May Not Know About YouTube | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it
Social media verse is full of some best kept secrets. YouTube is one of them. Yet when I think about cultural shifts enabled by social media, YouTube is the place that comes most vibrantly to mind. It's big, wide and deep.

In my last post I mentioned that the social media ‘verse is full of some best kept secrets. YouTube is one of them.

This Time cover from a couple of years ago (with the shiny mirrored screen) was prescient, but not quite enough… I’d cross that ‘You’ out and say ‘Us’. Hasn’t it felt that way these last couple of years? How we’ve grown a global collective consciousness?

Despite this cover, YouTube is not usually the first site that comes to mind when thinking about social media. I guess we take it a bit for granted while we wax rhapsodic about Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and Quora. Yet when I think about cultural shifts enabled by social media, YouTube is the place that comes most vibrantly to mind. It’s big, wide and deep.

Mature. Eccentric. Probably not what you think it is.

Beyond Your Borders: Promoting Your Business Internationally Using Social Media

Beyond Your Borders: Promoting Your Business Internationally Using Social Media | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

The aptly named world wide web has opened up new methods of marketing for businesses both great and small. The benefits of localizing company websites to target foreign markets are now widely recognized (Common Sense Advisory studies suggest an average return of US$25 for every $1 spent on localization) and many businesses now use social media platforms for domestic marketing, but very few appear to be using those platforms to promote their services abroad.

For example, Econsultancy’s 2010 Social Media and Online PR Report reported that 83% of marketers were planning to increase their spending on social media this year, yet only 26% had plans to run campaigns in more than one country.

Are Books Doomed? The Rise of E-Reading [INFOGRAPHIC]

Are Books Doomed? The Rise of E-Reading [INFOGRAPHIC] | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it
The tactile pleasure of worn pages between your fingers is hard to replace. But when it comes to encouraging people to embrace the written word, e-readers trump their physical counterparts.

Before you scoff, consider this: From December 2011 to January 2012, e-reader ownership nearly doubled, from 10 percent to 19 percent, among American adults. And that stunning surge in just one month’s time doesn’t even account for tablets or other mobile electronic devices people use to read books and longform content. Worldwide, meanwhile, e-reader sales rose by nearly 3 million between 2010 and 2011.

In the world of website development, they say content is king. In the world of training/education, you can provide truckloads of content, but it's really context that rules.

INFOGRAPHIC: Email Deliverability Best Practices | Email Marketing & Email Deliverability

INFOGRAPHIC: Email Deliverability Best Practices | Email Marketing & Email Deliverability | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

Email deliverability is a big issue for any business owner or online marketer who is using email as a marketing channel.

It’s important to understand “email deliverability” in context of the other email marketing metrics.

Email deliverability is the first line of defense when it comes to getting your subscribers to open your email messages and take the desired action. In other words, if the email message is not delivered in the first place, inbox vs. junk folder placement is a non-issue nor is whether or not they open the message, read it, or click on a link inside of the email message.

Steven Blomdale's curator insight, March 6, 2013 7:35 PM

In schools across Australia there is strong support for linking learning in Technologies with learning literacy skills. Learning in Technologies places a high priority on accurate and unambiguous communication (ACARA, 2013).Implementing digital technologies in learning areas such as English allows special education teachers to facilitate and accommodate the learning needs of students. This is achieved through integrating assistive devices such as the iPad and its applications to develop critical literacy skills needed in the 21st century.  Consequently special education teacher have a better opportunity to develop important General capabilities such as literacy (LIT) to allows student to become literate as they develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to interpret and use language confidently for learning and communicating in and out of school and for participating effectively in society (ACARA, 2013).

This website suggests various applications that can be used on the ipad to assist special needs students. The list of  applications were selected to improve and develop students reading, writing and spelling. They engage the students through making the activities, fun and engaging, which I think is important when teaching special needs students.
