LinkedIn’s one-click endorsements are crazy popular

LinkedIn’s one-click endorsements are crazy popular | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

Sometimes a little thing change the face of the world, on LinkedIn it's the one-click endorsement. I think it's really a great idea from LinkedIn to introduce this possibility. [note Martin Gysler]

It took LinkedIn nine years to reach 187 million members. It took the professional social network about one month to pass 200 million endorsements.

Endorsements are LinkedIn’s lightweight version of recommendations. The one-click, vote-of-approval option was released in late September; it offers members a quick and easy way to tell the world that a friend or co-worker is skilled in any area imaginable, say journalism, social media, or even kettlebells. Received endorsements are listed on member profiles in the skills and expertise section.

Facebook rolling out option for fans to receive notifications about page posts

Facebook rolling out option for fans to receive notifications about page posts | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

Facebook’s algorithms are sometimes a problem for fan pages who publish only a few posts. The problem is that they don’t appear in the stream of their fans. With this new feature, that could change, if the fan... activates this new option. Interesting! [note Martin Gysler]

Facebook is rolling out a new feature for users to opt in to receive notifications every time a page makes a post.

This seems to be a solution for fans who don’t want to miss any page posts that might not make it into their News Feed because of Facebook’s algorithms. For example, some users might want to be aware of all posts from a news publication, an artist they really like or a small business that doesn’t post very often. The feature is similar to the “close friends” option, which alerts users each time a new update or photo is shared by someone on the list.

Content Marketing Is Not As Simple As Writing A Ton of Blog Posts Every Day

Content Marketing Is Not As Simple As Writing A Ton of Blog Posts Every Day | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

The classic sales funnel has long been used to describe website development strategy.

However, the deployment of content marketing in a sales funnel with a campaign focus is a relatively new concept to many.

It’s not as simple as writing lots of blog posts every day and distributing them on social channels.

In fact, the goal of strategic content marketing should be to identify, qualify, segment, score and, ultimately, close leads in an accelerated and predictable fashion.

In order to strategically deploy content marketing it requires the right software, a defined sales funnel and a campaign structure.

Segments are usually FINANCIAL measures such as VIPs or "multi-buyers". Segments is one way to quantify groups within your marketing. Personas are another. Personas identify archetypes and group characteristics (instead of financial segments). Personas help develop creative segments make sure you make money.

The Phobias Of Creatives [infographic]

The Phobias Of Creatives [infographic] | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

We all have fears—spiders, heights, clowns.

To highlight the fears of creative professionals, creative agency Column Five Media—in collaboration with the social network for creatives The Creative Finder—has created an infographic.

In ‘The Common Phobias of Creatives’, it states that within the office, creative types have a phobia of: PCs, Comic Sans, sterile cube farm environments, internet outages, and hovering helicopter bosses.

When freelancing, creatives fear asking for extensions, asking for payments, getting non-traditional compensations, and never being able to say “no” to a project.

When it comes to dealing with clients, creatives are afraid to get these responses: “I’m not in love with it”; “Let me circulate it around the office”; “Can we make it ‘pop’ more”; “Can we get this ASAP”; “I’ll know it when I see it”; and “This is a good start, but…”.

Creatives, are these truly your fears?

Check out the infographic above.

A Personal Note from NYC about Sandy

A Personal Note from NYC about Sandy | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

Dear Friends and Colleagues

To the many of you who sent good wishes over the past week, thank you so very much.

At 4:33 am today (Saturday) our electricty finally came on, and the darkest days of Sandy have now moved behind us. It's been a long and difficult week, but for us, at least, the worst is over and we can start getting back to "normal."

Yet, there are so many thousands throughout the region who have simply lost everything; and worse, have lost loved ones as well. We consider ourselves fortunate that our experiences were merely ones of uncertainty and inconvenience -- many have been pushed to the breaking point. Their ordeals are far more devastating and long-lasting; some perhaps, never to be fully overcome.

In times like these, our thoughts turn to questions and affirmations...of wondering why such things occur and how one's life fits into the grand scheme of things...as well as recognizing once again the significance of family, friends, and enduring values.

On a personal note, we urge you to do whatever you can to help alleviate the suffering of the many left in need by this storm. In addition, please make every effort to vote on Tuesday (and assist others who may have difficulty getting to the polls). The stakes have rarely been higher for choosing the correct direction.

Yours sincerely,

Jim

Facebook and comScore: “This is how to do social marketing”

Facebook and comScore: “This is how to do social marketing” | Easy Ways To Get Your Own List | Scoop.it

ComScore released a new study with Facebook today explaining “how social marketing works.” If that sounds to suspicious minds like the fox explaining how to guard the chickens, that’s because it pretty much is. However, the study does contain a huge amount of useful information for social marketers.

Here are some highlights.

You’re more popular on Facebook

Social profiles on Facebook routinely get more attention than brands’ own websites. The example comScore gives is Skittles, which had 320,000 visitors to its Facebook page in March 2012, versus only 23,000 visitors to its corporate website. And that’s just visitors to the brand page; it does not count impressions of the company’s updates in fans’ news feeds.

The clear message from Facebook: pay attention to your Facebook presence.

Sometimes you’ll need to move your blog from one host to another. It’s a bit of a pain and might seem a daunting task if you’ve never done it before.

But transferring a site is a fairly straightforward process that you can do yourself with an FTP program and this step-by-step guide.

Before trying the DIY method, it’s worth checking to see whether your new hosting company offers a site transfer service for new customers. Many do—but check whether there’s a cost involved. I’ve seen free services for this, but I’ve also seen prices around $300!

If you just need to learn how to make a simple backup of your posts, and don’t need to move hosts, take a look at this ProBlogger post.

But if you’re ready to back up and move your blog, let’s do it.
