How and Why Social Engineering Works [Infographic]

How and Why Social Engineering Works [Infographic] | e-Xploration | Scoop.it

For many people in today’s world, being “online” has become a constant status. High-speed internet, smart phones and tablet PC’s have enabled us to stay connected whenever and wherever we are.

Social hackers capitalize on vulnerabilities when it comes to keeping personal details private, and the problem has only seemed to get worse as the digital age has developed.

Techniques as simple as looking over a shoulder as someone enters bank details or passwords are often used, as well as sending out deceiving emails ridden with malware and viruses that can take control of your computer. Hackers pose as a trusted entity in email blasts that utilize mind tricks to get the viewer to click on the link that will trigger the infection of your computer.

Everyone with an internet connection is vulnerable, and public awareness is the first step in ending this growing problem...

That was a question asked by data viz specialist and programmer Olivier Beauchesne. To find out, he downloaded all of Wikipedia (it’s open-source, after all) then used an algorithm that would assemble 300 topical clusters from popular, related keywords. Then he placed the location of each article in these topical clusters on a map. What he found was astounding...

Creating Engaging & Sharable Graphics

Creating Engaging & Sharable Graphics | e-Xploration | Scoop.it

When it comes to creating graphics for visual social networks, there are a few key ideas you should keep in mind to increase your reach and engagement. Your audience wants to be educated. They want to be inspired.

Of course, depending on the network in which you are promoting your content, the visual itself may be the entire piece of content, thus making it equally as important as the content it contains.

This is largely the case when it comes to social networks like Instagram, Pinterest and Vine. While all three allow for the option to link to more information in the comments, caption or description sections, the visual is the content for all intents and purposes since you can’t depend on someone clicking for more information.

This has got to be one of my favorite scoop it articles that I have come across yet! It was very interesting to see how far YouTube has come along since the year 2005 when the first official video was uploaded to YouTube. The article takes you through the years and the biggest achievements that YouTube has accomplished up to this present day. It also includes interesting facts about the Social Media network that I never knew about before, got me more interested in using YouTube and creating my own channel or even subscribing to others!
