Facebook Is Going To Ruin Your News Feed With Auto-Playing Video Ads

Facebook Is Going To Ruin Your News Feed With Auto-Playing Video Ads | e-Marketing & stuff | Scoop.it

In Facebook's quest to generate more revenue, it's going to muck up your News Feed with auto-playing videos, the FT reports.

Facebook is set to launch video advertising in its newsfeed in July...

As I can see, nobody is really happy here ... maybe Facebook should review his strategy.
Mr Branson's curator insight, May 8, 5:42 AM

It will be interesting to see if Facebook or facebookers can make video and chat work? I don't think so. The business model of Facebook has always been 'social' interaction and now asking facebookers to watch video instead of chat or gossip may turn the tide for Facebook.

Sage Osterfeld's curator insight, May 8, 11:45 AM

Facebook taking a queue from porn sites. Great.

Is there anything more annoying that an autoplaying ad that you don't care about ruining whatever it is you're doing? Every time I run across one, it's usually below the scroll where I can see it so I'm like, "where the hell is that noise coming from?" (Then I scroll down and find the ad playing, right click on it and use my Ad Block plugin to keep that server from ever showing me an ad again.)

The Failure Of Social Media

The Failure Of Social Media | e-Marketing & stuff | Scoop.it

Social Media doesn't work for the vast majority of small businesses.

That was the main message in the USA Today article titled, Study: Social media a bust for small businesses, published on April 17th, 2013. From the news item:"About 61% of small businesses don't see any return on investment on their social-media activities, according to a survey released Tuesday from Manta, a social network for small businesses. Yet, almost 50% say they've increased their time spent on social media, and only 7% have decreased their time. What businesses are trying to get out of social media: 36% said their goal was to acquire and engage new customers, 19% said to gain leads and referrals, and 17% said to boost awareness. Facebook was most cited as the hardest to maintain social-media platform, according to the survey." There is a big lesson in this data...

What you want from social media may be very different from what it is.

How To Turn Your Website's Google Analytics Report Into An Infographic

How To Turn Your Website's Google Analytics Report Into An Infographic | e-Marketing & stuff | Scoop.it

Have you ever tried to make quick sense of your website's Google Analytics report? Google Analytics is a great tool that provides a wealth of information about your website's traffic and engagement, but the dashboard style display of key metrics can be a little much to take in and meaningfully process. Yet more than 10 million people rely on this free tool to keep track of their daily web performance.

So the fine folks over at Visually created a Visually Google Analytics Report which can be automatically delivered to your inbox each week. The report transforms critical data about your website including the number of weekly page views, social engagement, SEO, and bounce rate into an easily accessible infographic.

Ditto, the coolest thing in a minute.
MizWalidah's curator insight, April 1, 6:12 AM

Visual.ly has to be the coolest thing to happen to content providers this entire year at least. I am placing their service on my music tech blog immediately. Even though most content publishing platforms offer some sort of metric insight or we default to using Google analytics to make sense of it all, we still do not know in what ways our content is increasing or decreasing in popularity. Analizing analytics can be a time consuming if not a minor threat to one's intellect. I know I am a chronic skimmer regarding analytics hoping to catch a bird view of how my efforts are being received.

Luckily the people from Visual.ly have heard the low frequency murmurs, the quiet call to understand metrics in a comprehensive way. What a brillliant idea to deliever your google analitics neatly to your email inbox in the form of an infographic. As it was mentioned in an earlier comment, this is a great platform to deliver infomation to potential partners, clients, band members who may prefer just the highlights.

We all love infographics because we all like looking at the big picture.

Alison Gilbert's curator insight, April 6, 5:58 PM

Et pour cause, le Knowledge Graph occupe toute la partie droite des résultats de Google et près de 40% de l’espace !

Setting Up Readable Online Web Copy using CSS

Setting Up Readable Online Web Copy using CSS | e-Marketing & stuff | Scoop.it
Working as a web designer requires knowledge in a slew of different areas. You need to consider user experience design, color schemes, and especially typography. This is one subject which is discussed often yet can still become an issue in website layouts.

This article discusses creating readable text on your websites. People who are visiting pages online are mostly interested in some type of content. If that content isn’t videos or images then it’s a good bet to be written text. The problem with sloppy typography is how quickly visitors will leave your website. Clear text is arguably one of the most important facets to any modern website – ensure that your text is easily readable and quickly digested.

How Good is Your Website, Above the Fold? #websitedesign

How Good is Your Website, Above the Fold? #websitedesign | e-Marketing & stuff | Scoop.it
Effective website design is a delicate balance of several things, including visual appeal, good content, search engine optimization, conversion optimization, visitor navigation, and so on. Utilizing the ‘above the fold’ area (the place people see without scrolling) of your website is very important. It’s not only important for the purposes of maximizing your ability to convert website visitors into customers — it’s also important for your search engine optimization efforts.

In the world of copywriting, the headline is vital. But after that headline, the first paragraph is also very important. You’ve got a brief window of opportunity to hook the reader. If you don’t do it fast, you’ll lose their interest, and they’ll bounce.
In the world of web design, the above the fold area of your site is the area that people first see.

In fact, many people get the vast amount of their impression of you from the “above the fold” area. There’s a tiny window of opportunity here. You need to strive to have the right elements in place otherwise they’ll never scroll beyond what they can see on their screen.
Don’t rely on saving the best for last in online marketing.

Blending good web design and good copywriting elements on every page of your site is important and can help increase the chances that visitors will become customers. Beyond a good-looking site with text and images, that are easy to decipher, here are some things to keep in mind:
