Charlotte Cullen:  "How will viewers follow a story if they are able to look wherever they want? How will a director make scene cuts without making the user sick?"

Fabiana Garcia Marulanda's curator insight, February 22, 11:08 PM

First of all, lets imagine that in the classroom the students will be able to handle this resource in order to increase their speaking and reading skills in one tool. I know that this is something utopian in our context not only because of the price of the product and  the scarce technological resources that some schools face. However, this does not imply that the product can not be used.

Maybe, one day this kind of resources will be implemented here in Colombia.

I think this article is awesome because they use data visualization to show what people share the most, visit the most, and search the most. Data is everywhere and people are using it everyday and sometimes don't even think about it.

Use Stories in eLearning: 6 Tips to Bring Out Your Inner Storyteller

Use Stories in eLearning: 6 Tips to Bring Out Your Inner Storyteller | E-Learning Methodology | Scoop.it

"Stories have captivated us as a species since the dawn of man. Through stories, we have passed on traditions, remembered the past, and carried information across the millennia.

And it's not just our ancestors who harnessed the power of stories, either. Stories still work to reach people, which is why we see businesses turning to the power of storytelling in branding efforts, marketing campaigns, corporate strategies, and even eLearning courses and business presentations."

Do you work with older students? Then you will enjoy this article about storytelling in learning. Great for introducing studnets to the need to structure online presentations as well as traditional, writing tasks.

Reading a good online presentation (from TED maybe) and then asking students to map the presentation to the story outline in this article will reinforce this learning for them.

Let me know if you give this a go - I've done similar activities with videos and story structures in primary schools and the students loved investigating the hidden structure!

Today, storytellers find imaginative ways to share their ideas with interactive and visual elements. On modern mediums like Twitter, Vine, YouTube and other mobile applications, storytellers are crafting tales in ways that would have been unfathomable a decade ago.

THIS Is How You Do Brand Storytelling | Danny Brown | E-Learning Methodology | Scoop.it

...The problem is, too many brands use storytelling poorly – the McDonald’s “Writer” ad being one such example where you were left questioning what the brand values were (a  key part in successful brand storytelling).

Get brand storytelling right, however, and you connect not just the dots between customer and brand, but the audience overall. Which is why the “Moments of Warmth” ad from Duracell Canada is so successful....

Digital Storytelling With Comics

Digital Storytelling With Comics | E-Learning Methodology | Scoop.it

On Monday I published a short guide to digital storytelling with comics. This evening I gave a free webinar presentation based on that free guide. More than 200 people registered for the webinar in less than 48 hours. If you wanted to join and missed it, the recording of the webinar, sponsored by Storyboard That, is now available here and as embedded below.

Excellent guide about how comics can be used to create short stories or to storyboard a larger project. Links to free versions of related software too - StoryboardThat.com; WeVideo.com (for turning comic strips into movies) and WidBook.com (for creating multimedia ebooks - and it's also a collaborative writing platform).

Marco Gabrielli's curator insight, August 13, 2013 8:30 AM

Il poster evidenzia gli argomenti chiave, necessari per sviluppare differenti forme di storytelling. I tre elementi principali sono:

1) la definizione di sette popolari tipi di trame (la vittoria sul mostro, diventare ricchissimi, la traversata del deserto, nuova consapevolezza, commedia, tragedia, rinascita) ;

2) l'identificazione di sette tipi di eroi presenti nelle diverse trame (Dracula, Cenerentola, Ulisse, Alice, Aristofane, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol);
