Knewton | La plataforma de enseñanza personalizable (Bye bye Moodle) [Vídeo] | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

Educational Technology Guy: Great Web 2.0 Resources for Students

Educational Technology Guy: Great Web 2.0 Resources for Students | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

There are some really great Web 2.0 Resources for Students out there that can help students with their school work, getting organized, and using other Web 2.0 resources. Here is a list of some of my favorites.

TRACKCLASS:

Trackclass is a great, free resource for students. The site allows students to track their classes and assignments, and even will send reminders (email or SMS) for upcoming assignment due dates and test dates. There is also a note taking utility so students can take notes on it if they have a computer in school, or transcribe notes later. You can even attach files to each class and assignment to keep things organized. It is a great way for students to stay organized.

There is also a version for mobile phones and the iPhone, so students can stay organized no matter where they are.

I found it very easy to use, with a great help section. I wish they had this when I was in school! I was even thinking that teachers could use this too.

Creating Your Institution's Mobile Learning Strategy -- Campus Technology

Creating Your Institution's Mobile Learning Strategy -- Campus Technology | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

In fall 2010, Northeastern University began planning an expansion of its mobile applications to allow students, faculty, and staff to stay much better connected to the university. To support and expand this initiative, Alicia Russell, director of Northeastern's Educational Technology Center, considered ways to facilitate faculty members' use of mobile technologies and applications in teaching.

Russell and other EdTech Center staff had noticed that faculty who had iPads found them fun and engaging but were not using them in the classroom. In light of that, the EdTech Center developed a mobile learning strategy for the institution--tied to the university's academic priorities--that encourages faculty to go beyond simple apps for e-mail and games and explore the wide array of possibilities for integrating mobile technologies into their classes.

To help other institutions that may be grappling with ways to incorporate mobile technologies in teaching and learning, Campus Technology asked Russell for some advice about creating a mobile learning strategy.

Mary Grush: What's key to getting a mobile learning strategy going on campus? What would you advise others?

Alicia Russell: Begin with a vision that ties mobile learning to your institution's academic plan or vision. For example, at Northeastern, our academic plan includes an emphasis on experiential learning, interdisciplinary and translational research, creative expression, urban engagement, and global opportunity. As we developed our vision of mobile learning, were able to link mobile technologies directly to statements in the academic plan.

How to create a knowledge ecosystem using digital tools

How to create a knowledge ecosystem using digital tools | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

...

This article covers the content of the seminar that, today, December 6, 2011, I present at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) in Paris, with the title: “Digital tools to create a knowledge ecosystem for learning and research”. The seminar introduces a global perspective on learning processes in order to integrate different webtools in a coherent and practical Personal Learning Environment (PLE). I will use my own PLE to illustrate the practical role that a diverse array of webtools play in my learning process. Below you can find the presentation, videos and links to be used in the seminar.

On the 12th day of #Moodlemas the community shared with me… | Moodle News | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

...

Here’s a special present from Frankie Kam to the Moodle community. A simple way to add a little wiggle to your Moodle.

Have you ever thought about livening up your Moodle site’s user interface? About making a more interesting user experience while surfing your site?

Well, I’ve made use of Dynamic Drive’s Shake Image Script to make the images and avatar icons on my Moodle site go all wiggly. This is my ‘innovation’, if you will, and my first Christmas gift to the Moodle community. Well it’s not exactly BumpTop, but I think it makes to make the Moodle interface on my production site more interesting and more visceral.

If you move your mouse cursor over your avatar’s icon, it will come alive…I mean, wiggle. Everywhere your Avatar icon appears, the icon will wiggle. Like in a forum posting. See image below.

Atrixware E-Learning Solutions » Blog Archive » 10 Helpful Tips for Using PowerPoint for E-Learning

Atrixware E-Learning Solutions » Blog Archive » 10 Helpful Tips for Using PowerPoint for E-Learning | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

We all know that PowerPoint is an amazing tool in the world of E-Learning software. It allows us to connect directly with users, as well as share our message in a wholly unique and fully customizable way. But, as with any tool, there are good ways (and therefore not-so-good ways) to use it.So today, in hopes of helping you to solve the PowerPoint puzzle, I’d like to share a few tips that have worked for me along the way. Nothing too fancy, just a great place to start when it comes to building presentations of your own!

1. Keep it Simple

Let’s face it…PowerPoint is fun! It’s packed with all of these happy little features that let you make your slides move, bounce and shimmy to the beat of your favorite music.

The problem with this is that all those extras can detract from your message. Users will spend their time focused on the fun instead of the lesson you are trying to teach. Simple slides may seem boring, but they are the best way to deliver a targeted and tailored E-Learning experience.

Great Content Curation Models: E-learning Examples by David Anderson

Great Content Curation Models: E-learning Examples by David Anderson | E-Learning, M-Learning | Scoop.it

If you are looking for inspiration when it comes to content curation, here is a great example at work.

ElearningExamples is a curated collection of "examples" from the real world of online communications in the areas of "multimedia journalism", "infographics" and "html5" among others.

For each one of these categories the author has written and edited a specific information card containing relevant information, images and links to the work being referenced.

The design of the site and the quality of the work "examples" being showcased make this a good example of what good "content curation" is.

Clearly, the work produced by this site, produces no noise or regurgitation of information, but rather offers a better way to make sense and discover the communication areas being curated on the site.

Thanks to David Anderson, an e-learning designer & community manager at Articulate for having created this excellent curated set of galleries.

Inspiring. 9/10
