Collaborative Screen Sharing App ScreenHero Now Available on Windows Too | e-learning in higher education and beyond | Scoop.it
Simple, collaborative screen sharing. You each get your own mouse, and you're both always in control.

Ulrike Grabe's insight:

From the website:

"Screenhero lets you screen share any application with anyone, no matter where they are. It's super simple and blazing fast. You each get your own mouse pointer, and you're both always in control. It's designed for collaboration, not just broadcasting your screen. It's like Google Docs for any application on your computer.

Screenhero is designed to feel like you're sitting next to the person you're working with — even when you're miles away. It's available for both Mac and Windows."

Robin Good's curator insight, March 6, 2013 3:06 AM

ScreenHero, which I have reviewed and announced back in December, is a downloadable app which allows anyone to collaboratively screen-share any application and to work together simultaneously on it with others.

Today ScreenHero has released a Windows version of its free app which is immediately available for download here: http://screenhero.com/#download

From the official site: "You each get your own mouse pointer, and you're both always in control. It's designed for collaboration, not just broadcasting your screen.

From the original article on BetaKit: "The team calls Screenhero “Google Docs for any application.”

After downloading the app, signing up, and adding team members or friends, users can either share their entire screen or one individual window.

Once a contact has agreed to view the screenshare, both participants get their own mouse pointer and similar to Google Docs, can simultaneously edit and work on projects.

...

The company said their platform is ideal for developers who are programming together or reviewing code, companies who want to review designs or mockups together, or marketers giving product demos.

The basic account is free, and soon users will be able to pay either $5 per month for an individual pro account, or $49 per month for a pro team account, which will add additional features like support and enterprise integration.

The app also lets users chat using Screenhero’s internal chat feature, currently via text but the company said it plans to add audio chat as well, which is a crucial feature since right now most users who want to chat while they’re working together have to use Skype in conjunction with Screenhero."

An Excellent New Feature for Google Docs ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

An Excellent New Feature for Google Docs ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | e-learning in higher education and beyond | Scoop.it

A few days ago Google released a few interesting updates to its Drive applications. One important update that I want to share with you today is called "Suggested Edits". This new feature is great for collaborative work on Google Docs. Before, when you share a Google document with your collaborators and grant them the editing rights they can edit anything in it. But with "Suggested Edits" you, as the owner of the document, can control this editing process by allowing collaborators to make only suggestions which you can either accept or reject. This new feature is not available on Google Docs for mobile.

Put simply, information design refers to the “the arrangement of organization models to provide context and meaning for the information.” It comprises of several disciplines: typography, illustration design, page design, graphics design, communications theory, cultural studies, psychology, and other technical and non-technical practices. The goal is always clarity of communication.

Disorganized Layout
Poor Color Choice
Not Integrating Words and Images Correctly
Forgetting About the Basics: Typography
Lack of Foundation
Too Much Jargon

Writefull | A new way of writing with confidence

Writefull | A new way of writing with confidence | e-learning in higher education and beyond | Scoop.it

We all use Google to check if our writing is correct. We enter different phrases until we find the one that gives us most results – and this is the one we use in our own text. A smart approach, but not without its annoyances: revisiting the Google webpage breaks the flow of our writing, and its results often contain grammatical errors.

Via Nik Peachey

The application helps to check your writing (in English) not only regarding spelling and grammer but adds tools to check examples of the use of a certain phrase, context and synonyms, too.
