Durriyyah Kemp's curator insight, August 6, 2014 5:08 PM

Teachers:  Exploring new and different pedagogical practices is not only a great way to figure out how your students do their best learning, but it is also fun.  It is a great way for your students to discover how enjoyable learning can be.  Flipped Learning is one such practice.  Students typically enjoy diversity in learning (its difficult to get bored), so allowing opportunities for collaborative learning, individual learning, and experiential learning are great ways to engage all of the students in your learning environment to do their best learning.

Curation as Digital Literacy Practice | e-learning & communautés | Scoop.it

Ibrar Bhatt writes: "Digital curation therefore is not just about finding relevant material, although that is a significant part of it, but is also about creating a specific and unique experience by utilising the resulting materials which then become contextualised within a new space. A curator, therefore, whether she is a journalist-by-proxy such as Popova or a student completing an assignment in a classroom, not only collects and interprets, but also creates a new experience with it. In this respect, curation is a process of problem solving, re-assembling,re-creating, and stewardship of other people’s writing."

Yet another e-learning development to follow! I have always found SCORM, in its many incarnations, to be a pain to use. Hopefully this won't be true of the Tin Can API.

Terri Rice's curator insight, August 26, 2014 11:53 AM

Danielle is correct! This site is full of terrific information about Tin Can API. I believe you need to check this out if you have issues with tracking your employees training and C.E.U's. Tin Can makes it simple by providing a management system capable of tracking ALL of your employee's learning experiences in and out side of work. Tremendous advancement in training and e-learning.

The Four Pillars of Flipped Learning ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

The Four Pillars of Flipped Learning ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | e-learning & communautés | Scoop.it

"Flipped classroom or flipped learning is a methodology, an approach to learning in which technology is employed to reverse the traditional role of classroom time. If in the past, classroom time is spent at lecturing to students , now in a flipped model, this time is utilized to encourage individualized learning and provide one-on-one help to students, and also to improve student-teacher interaction. While the instructional or teachable content is still available in class, however this content is mainly designed in such a way to be accessed outside class which is a great way for struggling students to learn at their own pace. Check out this page for more resources on Flipped Learning."

9 Roles For The Teacher That Leads - Te@chThought

9 Roles For The Teacher That Leads - Te@chThought | e-learning & communautés | Scoop.it

"Jackie Gerstein’s User Generated Education is a favorite of ours, with her ideas on self-directed learning, connectivity, experiential learning, and other strands of progressive teaching and learning very much in aligned with our own thoughts on what a modern learning experience should look like.

At the core of Gerstein’s thinking is the idea of making–hands on creation of compelling stuff that reflects what’s important to students. She has recently released a new book on this idea, The Educator as a Maker Educator. Among the ideas offered up in the book is exactly what you might expect from the title–reenvisioning the role of the teacher, this time as a “maker educator.”"
