I love this idea and I think it goes a long way towards personalizing learning - if we see a student has already earned a badge then we move on with that student. Peer-to-peer teaching could also be encouraged since students can see expertise through the badges and then go to each other for help.

Zaption allows the teacher to insert text on the video, to draw or annotate on the video or to insert thought provoking questions.

This could be huge!!! Especially in flipped classrooms or where you want the students to see an experiment and think about why and how things are happening as they see them!

Fascinating article by Grant Wiggins that will resonate with you and your reading/ELA teachers. His points are so obvious I never saw them before but I love how he points out that we, as teachers, like to tell students to re-read which is just as unhelpful as telling them to "think harder." If they are not comprehending in the first place, how will re-reading make a difference if we don't know where the gaps in comprehension exist? I'm looking forward to the promised subsequent posts on this.
