Leadership Courage: Creating A Culture Where People Feel Safe To Take Risks

Leadership Courage: Creating A Culture Where People Feel Safe To Take Risks | E-Learning | Scoop.it
“ The human ingenuity within any organisation are it's greatest competitive advantage. Yet according to the latest statistics, over half of todays workers are disengaged . When leaders are committed and actively working to engage, inspire and embolden – they unleash untapped potential and raise the bar not just on productivity, but on the value their organization contributes to all stakeholders.”

The future need innovators and the present needs innovative teachers to nurture them.   Creativity and the ability to innovate are natural characteristics but they must be built up and encouraged in our students, colleagues, and selves.

IteratED is committed to bringing out and nurturing the best in all of our faculty and students. We understand that this requires greater autonomy to make decisions and more trust in the natural ability to learn through exploration.

Are you a teacher who wants to reach for your highest potential? We are here to help you get there. Contact IteratED for more information on how together we can provide exceptional 21st-century education.

Be strong and courageous.

Tony Palmeri's curator insight, October 24, 2015 12:40 PM

"...Human ingenuity within any organization is it's greatest competitive advantage". This quote alone made me scoop this resource. How do we tap into the resource that is our staff? Engaging with them in the classroom and in the hallways to build communication capacity is important. Inspiring staff to take risks is a tricky enterprise - leaders must value this sort of behavior. This means that attempts which result in failure must be cherished, not scrutinized as they often tend to be.

The (3) best ways to share information from your iPad

The (3) best ways to share information from your iPad | E-Learning | Scoop.it
“ With iOS 8, Apple expanded the iPad’s ability to share information in many different ways. This has long been a frequently requested feature that was already available on various other mobile platforms in one form or another. Sharing information and data, in any form, can be a very useful tool for all iPad owners. I want to discuss three of the best ways iPad users can share information, and the processes they can use to make this possible.”

Some really good thoughts! We certainly do need to change the way we use software/apps and allow students to have greater power in deciding which apps to use and how they use them. As teachers, we are not always the expert on how to use apps!

How to start using Apple TV in the classroom - Daily Genius

How to start using Apple TV in the classroom - Daily Genius | E-Learning | Scoop.it
“ The big push for education technology is coming from a handful of sources. There’s the teachers, the administrators, the students, and the technology producers. Technology is not the final solution to improving education, though. Far from it. Education technology is a powerful tool in a teacher’s toolkit to create effective learning opportunities. It’s just a tool – not the entire toolkit. This seems to be the general consensus now that edtech is becoming more ubiquitous and attainable for many schools in developed countries. Sadly, it’s still far out of reach for many developing countries.”

An iPad Toolkit - apps that have transformed my practice - ICT Evangelist

An iPad Toolkit - apps that have transformed my practice - ICT Evangelist | E-Learning | Scoop.it
n case you hadn’t noticed, I’m quite a fan of the iPad (the Lollipop Nexus 9’s not too bad either). Not because of its design or because its by Apple or any of that, but because of its keen heritage in the learning arena. Any one who knows me will tell you that I am not one for using tech for tech’s sake, despite my evangelist moniker. Use of technology in a cross curricular sense should be measured and done with consideration for the best potential learning outcomes.

With all that said, I’ve been doing this for quite some time now and I thought it time that I shared some of the Apps that have stuck by me or have struck me for their ease of use and impact upon learning in the classroom.

Doceri - The Interactive Whiteboard for iPad.

Doceri - The Interactive Whiteboard for iPad. | E-Learning | Scoop.it
“ Doceri is a scalable suite of products that allows a teacher or presenter to control a computer's desktop, to control audiovisual technology, and to annotate any presentation in real time with the Apple™ iPad™. Doceri is an intuitive interface that can replace interactive whiteboards and expensive AV touch panels.”

John Dalziel's curator insight, May 18, 2015 1:51 AM

Doceri is a versatile app that lets practitioners, and/or learners, create, share, annotate and control presentations, and they can also record and share screen-casts.
At the time of curating this, the iPad version is free, and a Windows 8.1 version costs $4.99.
Trying to record voice narration while also recording or annotating a presentation can, for many, be challenging, and Doceri simplifies this process with a timeline-based editor that lets users capture a presentation first, then go back and add voice narration where appropriate. Users can also pause a recording as many times as they need.
Doceri also gives users many options for uploading or sharing screencasts; they can...
· share a screencast directly to YouTube or Facebook;
· send it privately as an e-mail attachment;
· save it to their camera roll;
· transfer it to their computer via iTunes;
· upload it to a LMS (learning management system) or Google Drive;
· incorporate it into iBooks Author; or
· import it into iMovie, Adobe Premiere or other video editing software.

Craft can help learners find...
   - positions to apply for and
   - information about different companies.
Learners can...
   - search for a specific firm, or
   - click a category to see a list of leading companies.
They can then click a logo to find out...
   - what a company does;
   - how many employees a company has;
   - about the companies key financial statistics and
   - if there are any jobs on offer.
Note: at the time of curating this, Craft is mostly centred on London & San Francisco, but many of the companies are very large and have a large reach.

The (5) most useful accessibility features on the iPad | iPad Insight | E-Learning | Scoop.it
One of the lesser know features of iOS that adds an incredible amount of functionality to the iPad is Accessibility. Unfortunately, not many people are aware of the many benefits gained with Accessibility–and even fewer are aware of how to access them on their iPad even if they wanted to.  For the sake of narrowing the focus of this post somewhat, I decided to list and give a brief overview of what I believe are the (5) most useful features found in accessibility on your iPad.  Obviously, if you have special needs that require assistance to use your iPad, you might have a very different list of features.  Luckily Apple breaks this feature into several sections that include additional help with Vision, Hearing, and Interaction with your iPad.
