Blended Learning Unit: Français 2: À La Maison by Ellen Onsrud

Blended Learning Unit: Français 2: À La Maison by Ellen Onsrud | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Bonjour!  Welcome to my French 2 unit,  À la maison.  This unit was created for my face-to-face French 2 class and adapted for the virtual classroom as part of my Assessment in E-Learning course through the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

As you read through this unit, you will find the demographic information for my current teaching position at Lake Mills High School, as well as the course content and description for my face-to-face class.  While the learning objectives remain the same, the delivery, as seen in the Unit Overview and the Learning Objectives, utilizes assessments that will be used in a virtual classroom
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Here is a well designed, in-depth unit suitable for high school or college French classes.  It was designed by Ellen Onsrud, a talented online and face to face teacher who recently graduated from the UW-Stout E-Learning and Online Teaching program. You'll appreciate the detailed assessments provided in this unit! (Way to go Ellen!)

Do I Need a Digital Teaching Portfolio?

Do I Need a Digital Teaching Portfolio? | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
Designing a well-organized and professional teaching portfolio can give you an edge in a competitive job market, and help you score high marks on your school's teacher evaluation form. It is, however, a time-consuming endeavor (the average portfolio takes about two to three days of work), and once built, your portfolio will require regular attention.
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Participants in UW-Stout's E-Learning and Online Teaching Graduate Certificate Program develop an e-Portfolio as they work through the program. During the Practicum (a mentored online teaching experience) the portfolio is polished for a final peer review.

How to Use Pinterest to Create an Awesome Resume That Stands Out

How to Use Pinterest to Create an Awesome Resume That Stands Out | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
f you decide to use Pinterest as a resume or portfolio tool, you have two options: create a board or whole account to showcase your skills. If you create a board, it will be one URL and one stream with all of your resume/portfolio items. If you have enough items that pulling them into one stream could be too cluttered, you could create a dedicated Pinterest account with several boards to organize your items into. What your best option is will depend on your profession and experience level.

The One Thing Every Instructional Designer Must Do | WPLMS

The One Thing Every Instructional Designer Must Do | WPLMS | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

One of the best pieces of advice I received in regards to my instructional design career was to never be afraid of hard numbers, and to go one step further – talk about your accomplishments in hard numbers. For one reason or another, many instructional designers shy away from communicating statistics when speaking about their experience in interviews or on their resume; or perhaps we just forget about them. Either way we are doing a disservice to our value.

Solid advice about how to present your experience as an instructional designer.

Expanding My Horizons by Victoria Thornley, MSN, RN, CNE

Expanding My Horizons by Victoria Thornley, MSN, RN, CNE | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

An E-portfolio developed  for the University of Wisconsin - Stout Graduate Certificate in E-Learning and Online Teaching where I started  in 2013.  I decided that I wanted to know more about online education.  With the rapid changes in technology and internet access, it appeared to me that online courses would flourish.  I found the E- Learning and Online Teaching graduate certificate program from University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Within this electronic portfolio you will find demonstrations of my learning.  Each course required the submission of artifacts to the portfolio.  I have selected artifacts from the courses listed above to present in this final portfolio as evidence of my learning and my ability to excel as an online educator.  The links lead to course work I have done that demonstrates my learning of course design, student assessment, online facilitation, and finally my reflections on my own learning. One additional link provides examples of learning projects I completed during the courses.

I hope you enjoy my journey as I expanded my horizons.    ~Vicki

With recent upgrades to the Google Drive app on the iPad, it is now a viable solution for student portfolios that can be created in their entirety on iPad. Everything that is created by a student can be uploaded directly to their Google Drive account and into a “Portfolio” folder that can then be shared with any one of their teachers.

Robin Good's curator insight, June 11, 2013 3:17 AM

If you are looking for a free tool that allows you to easily create a visual portfolio of images and/or video clips, organized into categories, Dunked offers an excellent solution.

Simple, elegant and very straightforward to use, Dunked makes it easy to upload one or more pictures at a time and to arrange them on your portfolio page and into separate collections called Projects.

You can customize background, colors for all the elements on a page, fonts, logo and you can add a personalized About and Contact page.

My comments: Excellent visual portoflio tool for photographers, designers and artists of any kind. Compared to having an image or video collection on Pinterest, the difference is that the presentation style is much more elegant, and images are viewed by default at a much larger size. You also have fine control on individual text style, colors and other design elements. The absence of a bookmarklet further indicates that this tool has been designed with the photographer/artist/painter in mind and not to collect stuff found on the web.

Free to use.

Tioki is the online professional network exclusively for the education community. Our mission is to give those in the education industry access to the most valuable resource out there – other people who are passionate about education! Making a connection on Tioki means that you have the unique opportunity to see what others do, use, and know. Through the use of specialized skills’ tags, education-specific profile features, and linked resources, we make it easier than ever for you to gain access to the advice, tools, and opportunities that address your most pressing needs. But wait, there’s more! With every connection you make on Tioki, your professional network automatically expands, increasing your access to increasingly more knowledge and opportunities.

Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Tioki is a combination social network for educators and job search service. It will appeal to younger teachers who are learning their way into the profession.  The profile elements help new teachers highlight their skills.

While I concentrate on E-Learning, I wanted to curate this interesting social network based job search site.  Young teachers are a precious commodity. Those saavy enough to use this service well have already distinguished themselves as above average.

For those involved in virtual education at the K-12 level, it may be well worth your time to network here.

AAEEBL - Home for the World ePortfolio Community | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Hi Dennis -- I'm glad to see you've included eportfolios in your collection of resources on your Scoop. It page.  I wanted to share AAEEBL with you in case you'd like to visit our Scoop. It page or write about AAEEBL.  So you can get to know us better, I'm pasting some info below.  All best,  Judy Batson

-------------------------------

The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL, pronounced "able") is a non-profit, professional organization for the world eportfolio community.  ePortfolio community leaders recognized in 2008 that eportfolio, as a technology, and as a body of theory and practices, had emerged as a promising influence and direction for education.  As such, we decided eportfolio needed its own professional association to catalyze the implementation of eportfolios in education.  We deeply believed in the value of eportfolio for learning, assessment and life-long career success.  Therefore AAEEBL was formed in 2009 within the existing eportfolio community to serve educators and the eportfolio industry.

AAEEBL's mission is to deepen learning and to transform institutions with electronic portfolios.  A service organization, AAEEBL offers conferences, resources, community connections, a newsletter, and consulting to institutional members and corporate affiliates.  With affiliations and collaborations among a wide array of world-wide eportfolio initiatives, projects and organizations, AAEEBL helps delineate the new field of eportfolio scholarship and research. Support from institutional memberships and from Corporate Affiliates, along with  grants, make it possible for AAEEBL to provide strategic leadership.
