Flipped Classroom Chaos? Managing In-Class Learning Experiences | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
When you think about flipping a lesson or a class, you must, on some level, embrace the messiness of a dynamic learning environment. But that does not mean you lose control or let chaos rule your classroom. In fact, because there are so many variables in the flipped classroom, you need to be even more organized, and put systems in place to help you and your students focus on the learning.

You don’t “find your calling,” you fight for it — and other lessons from people who found their passion (sometimes late in life).
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

I found my calling as a teacher when I as still in high school. It kept coming back. I once had a license plate holder that said "Born to Teach".  After 25 years in public school classrooms I was worn out by the all the demands that were draining my teaching spirit.

Then I found my way to teaching online. Returning to school at age 50 was the key.  I fought for a better way to teach... and found it online. ~ Dennis

Screencast Feedback for Clear and Effective Revisions of High-Stakes Process Assignments

"By creating screencast videos for feedback, online faculty are able to indicate specific needs for revision within student assignments, discuss possible approaches for revision, display assignment rubrics to specify criteria that are and are not being met, direct writers to online resources, and give "voiced" affirmations to developing writers" -- Jodi Whitehurst, University of Arkansas-Beebe

Via Charles Marvin
Maggie Rouman's insight:

I often use screencasts to teach and give feedback to students. It's a great way to personalize instruction!

Charles Marvin's curator insight, June 6, 7:32 PM

This instructor's contribution to the Conference on College Composition and Communication's ongoing "Open Resources" file illustrates how to make use of Screencastify to deliver video feedback to student writers.  The advantage of this technique is that it allows the instructor not only to review aspects of a paper by scrolling and arrow-pointing, but to call up other instructional documents or web pages during the video conference to which to refer or compare the assignment.  Lengthy text-based explanations to high-stakes assignments, Whitehurst found, tended to confuse many of her students and involve an inordinate amount of typing on her own part.  She has received positive feedback from her students and feels that in her use of Screencastify videos she has made the job of providing high-quality feedback more manageable.
