Dennis T OConnor's insight:

I'll be putting these tutorials to work since I'm finally pulling my stick out of the mud and converting my Moodle work from 1.9 to 2.X.  I'll admit I'm in  a rut.  I know the 'old' Moodle so well and it works so reliably that I just haven't gotten around to upgrading.  Now I am!

Showcase and discover the latest work from top online portfolios by creative professionals across industries.
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

E-Learning portfolios are an essential for any online teacher looking for an online job.  These examples show the skills of professional designers.  As teachers, we aren't expected to be designers. However the more creative and innovative your work is, the better!  Think about your online presence!

Linda Buckmaster's curator insight, December 28, 2012 5:49 PM

A great resource for students to collect and collate their work.

AAEEBL - Home for the World ePortfolio Community | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Hi Dennis -- I'm glad to see you've included eportfolios in your collection of resources on your Scoop. It page.  I wanted to share AAEEBL with you in case you'd like to visit our Scoop. It page or write about AAEEBL.  So you can get to know us better, I'm pasting some info below.  All best,  Judy Batson

-------------------------------

The Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL, pronounced "able") is a non-profit, professional organization for the world eportfolio community.  ePortfolio community leaders recognized in 2008 that eportfolio, as a technology, and as a body of theory and practices, had emerged as a promising influence and direction for education.  As such, we decided eportfolio needed its own professional association to catalyze the implementation of eportfolios in education.  We deeply believed in the value of eportfolio for learning, assessment and life-long career success.  Therefore AAEEBL was formed in 2009 within the existing eportfolio community to serve educators and the eportfolio industry.

AAEEBL's mission is to deepen learning and to transform institutions with electronic portfolios.  A service organization, AAEEBL offers conferences, resources, community connections, a newsletter, and consulting to institutional members and corporate affiliates.  With affiliations and collaborations among a wide array of world-wide eportfolio initiatives, projects and organizations, AAEEBL helps delineate the new field of eportfolio scholarship and research. Support from institutional memberships and from Corporate Affiliates, along with  grants, make it possible for AAEEBL to provide strategic leadership.

In addition, this site also provides an e-portfolio implementation tool kit, based on the experiences of its case study contributors: 12 UK, 4 Australian and 3 New Zealand partner institutions together with one professional organisation."

How to Create a Portfolio with Evernote (Education Series)

How to Create a Portfolio with Evernote (Education Series) | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

By Rob Van Nood

When I first started researching options, I was coming across a lot of companies that were really expensive, charging a lot for each student’s use. I also knew that we needed an app for mobile devices that would make it easy to capture and document paperwork and I wasn’t finding that in most of the tools I was evaluating. Evernote was free, had an app for virtually every device, and we could get started right away.

Education Week: E-Portfolios Evolve Thanks to Web 2.0 Tools

Education Week: E-Portfolios Evolve Thanks to Web 2.0 Tools | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
New technologies are making it quicker and easier than ever to create digital portfolios of student work, a method of assessment experts say increases student engagement.

Using an application called EverNote, Van Nood’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders can clip Web pages, store photos, type in notes, save screenshots, attach audio files, and even pinpoint their exact geographic location on a map. Those media resources are then sent into each student’s account, where they are filed and indexed to be recalled later.

E-Learning Jobs: Where to Search

E-Learning Jobs: Where to Search | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Teaching is the best job in the world. You help people. You spend your work life energy participating in an endlessly fascinating process. You also get paid to learn.

Online teaching adds geographical independence and a big dose of entrepreneurship to the life of a teacher. I’ve found that to be a very good thing.

As the program advisor and instructor for the University of Wisconsin-Stout’s Online Teaching Graduate Certificate Program, I teach online classes every semester. Another very important part of my job is helping people find work.
