Moodle Rubric Grading - Complete Guide - Super Moodle

Moodle Rubric Grading - Complete Guide - Super Moodle | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

The Moodle rubric, a system built for criteria-based assessment, explicitly describes the performance expectation for an assignment. The rubrics have several criteria and each criterion has several descriptive levels provided. A rubric identifies several attributes. They include descriptions, performance levels and the criteria.

Criteria take into account the performance aspects that an instructor intends to assess. The description attribute denotes the desired characteristics associated with a criterion. The performance level is a rating scale in rubric used to identify the level of mastery a student has within a given criteria. Each descriptive level has a numerical grade and an instructor can choose the level that answers a given criterion in the best way possible.

Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Moodle is a great LMS.  One the strengths of the platform is the rich set of resources available to online teachers. The Moodle Rubric system is a valuable assessment tool that will help your students understand the target... and hit it.

I love the comment on the hydrant slide reading " getting information from the internet is like drinking from a fire hydrant".

Searches always bring TOO much information so you feel overwhelmed. Also, we now ALWAYS struggle in determining what is good information, and what is trash. We do indeed feel like we're drowning at times, or just being "hosed" by sites that just waste your time aggregating traffic. I wish there was a browser that would eliminate the needless flow of advertising and extraneous mind numbing trash!

Expanding My Horizons by Victoria Thornley, MSN, RN, CNE | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

An E-portfolio developed  for the University of Wisconsin - Stout Graduate Certificate in E-Learning and Online Teaching where I started  in 2013.  I decided that I wanted to know more about online education.  With the rapid changes in technology and internet access, it appeared to me that online courses would flourish.  I found the E- Learning and Online Teaching graduate certificate program from University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Within this electronic portfolio you will find demonstrations of my learning.  Each course required the submission of artifacts to the portfolio.  I have selected artifacts from the courses listed above to present in this final portfolio as evidence of my learning and my ability to excel as an online educator.  The links lead to course work I have done that demonstrates my learning of course design, student assessment, online facilitation, and finally my reflections on my own learning. One additional link provides examples of learning projects I completed during the courses.

I hope you enjoy my journey as I expanded my horizons.    ~Vicki

The Art and Science of Successful Online Discussions

The Art and Science of Successful Online Discussions | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
Faculty use asynchronous discussions to extend and enhance instructional practices in the online classroom. It is widely reported that online discussions play an integral role in facilitating students’ learning, as well as fostering dialogue, critical thinking, and reflective inquiry (Kayler & Weller, 2007; Morris, Finnegan, & Sz-Shyan, 2005). Despite faculty’s knowledge that discussion forums can serve as a useful learning tool, online discussions are not easy to establish and manage.
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Classes taught with facilitated discussion (a great step beyond simple Q&A) are the gold standard of online teaching and learning.

Visual Learning In The Classroom (Any Classroom Flipped or Traditional) - Edudemic

Visual Learning In The Classroom (Any Classroom Flipped or Traditional) - Edudemic | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Humans thrive on visual stimuli, and interaction. We don’t want to hear about the latest tablet, or even read an article about it. We want to see it for ourselves.

More than that, we want to experience it for ourselves. We want to press all the buttons, test out the apps, and personalize every feature. Which experience teaches you more about the tablet—your conversation with someone who told you about it? Or the time you tried it for yourself? The latter, undoubtedly. Our strongest memories are created in the moments where we are actively participating. Humans are active learners by nature.

Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Although this article is aimed at the traditional classroom it also applies to blended/flipped and fully online learning environments.

GET YOUR HANDS ON has always worked-- how your reach across space has changed.
