Pinterest isn't just for wedding themes, DIY craft inspiration, and pretty pictures — it can also be a great educational tool! Here are some creative ways educators are using Pinterest to enhance the learning experience.
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

Are you hooked on Pinterest? Many are. It's a fun and relatively easy platform to use. Here's a clever infographic that will spark some ideas on how you can use it in your flipped, blended, or even fully online class.

If you are up for some practical graduate education about social media in your classroom, consider Dr. Kay Lehmann's fully online course:  Integrating Social Media Instructional Strategies. It's almost as much fun as Pinterest. 8-)

How to Use Pinterest to Create an Awesome Resume That Stands Out | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
f you decide to use Pinterest as a resume or portfolio tool, you have two options: create a board or whole account to showcase your skills. If you create a board, it will be one URL and one stream with all of your resume/portfolio items. If you have enough items that pulling them into one stream could be too cluttered, you could create a dedicated Pinterest account with several boards to organize your items into. What your best option is will depend on your profession and experience level.

5 Reasons Pinterest’s Search Engine Is Better Than Google’s

5 Reasons Pinterest’s Search Engine Is Better Than Google’s | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it

Pinterest is a lifestyle searching tool for millions of people.

People go on there with excited eyes to look for amazing recipes to cook for dinner that weekend, find ways to dress to the tens for a special date, or find creative educational materials to teach children with.

Millions of users turn to Pinterest to enhance their lifestyle. And they are doing so by using the search function on Pinterest. Here’s a fun fact.

Did you know that Google has a search engine just for recipes? It’s been around for years, but almost nobody I know uses it.

Instead, most people I know automatically go to Pinterest if they want to find recipes to try out.

That’s not the only reason Pinterest is better than Google.

Here are 5 reasons why Pinterest’s search engine is better than Google.

Dennis T OConnor's insight:

I'm not sure I agree with the premise of this article. However, searching fresh materials that are curated by humans, rather than assembled by a spyder-bot does have an advantage.

More than anything it comes down to the consumer of information to make a judgement about the curator of the information.

I have multiple boards but one of my favorites is my artists "pincase" board .. whre i invited people to share their art.  It's been a little hard keeping product marketers off the page and i have had to delete a few pins of jewelry and clothes .. etc... BUt when you do get to the art there is some amazing pins..  I also have to keep up and invite all the people who follow board..

Mindboggling Facts That Will Make You Care About Pinterest | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
Pinterest isn't going away and it's only getting bigger. Here's why it's the social platform to watch.

According to social login provider Gigya’s latest numbers, Pinterest grabs 41% of e-commerce traffic. Compare that to Facebook at 37%. Since Pinterest is centered around the social discovery of objects (as opposed to friends and family), it makes sense that Pinterest would eventually have the upper hand, but it’s an accomplishment for any platform to sneak up on Facebook’s number-one-in-everything status.
