TED Talk: Blended Learning and the Value of the Teacher

TED Talk: Blended Learning and the Value of the Teacher | E-Learning and Online Teaching | Scoop.it
Speaking at TEDx, Monique Markoff shares her experiences at a blended learning school in San Jose, integrating technology into the middle school curriculum.
Dennis T OConnor's insight:

This quotation from Monique Markoff helps us shift our thinking from machines to people:

""Some would say in this model the teachers matter less since computers are taking over some of the instruction. But I actually think teachers matter more in this model. They are now the orchestrators of these complex learning paths, picking which program should go for which student. They have to now target all the skills that the computer can’t do.  How to motivate that child. How to connect what they’re doing to their home life."

You've heard of Blended Learning strategies by now along with all the other technology driven methods available. What this particle TED talk focuses on is building a model that encourages student led learning using technology, while the teacher serves as the motivator, and your guide for exploring the student's learning potential. The most important aspect however when trying to implement a Blended learning model,  is being flexible in its delivery and outcomes.  As there are many ways to  build your platform, just keep your students at the forefront of your decision making in order to Meet Them Where They Are.

Note to anti-evolutionists: 1) There's no evidence showing that homochirality could not form via natural processes. 2) Homochirality has nothing to do with evolution. It's a requirement for abiogenesis - which is a separate thing - and not for evolution.
Thank you for understanding this and not making a fool of yourself by spamming this video with your minunderstandings, lies and disinformation.

Yet, at a fundamental level this reflection-symmetry is broken. The Weak Force (one of the 4 fundamental forces) explicitly breaks this symmetry (know as parity).

"The communication explosion reaches its peak when you explore the endless avenues running through TED Talks. Moreover, the title educator embodies many forms within these talks.

So it’s precisely for this reason that any educator benefits from so many of these talks. Each speaker reveals his or her passion of a view or a subject with the enthusiasm of a first-year teacher."

Using TED Talks to convey an important message or spark creativity might be more effective in teaching students than an individual agenda or preconceived notion of what should be said. Furthermore, TED Talks challenges educators everywhere to think differently and encourage the same in their students.

These are the best TED Talks for any educator because they make us laugh, warm our hearts, break down barriers, and always inspire us to dig a little deeper and push a little harder, challenging your educator perspective.

When it comes to computers and the Internet, Rheingold says there’s potential for us to systematically direct the evolution of intelligence.
