Professionals Against Machine Scoring Of Student Essays In High-Stakes Assessment
Patricia Christian's insight:
Good article which can be debated. If the instructors are creating the database of information there is nothing wrong with multiple choice questions being assessed through artificial intelligence. I view these as teacher created online tests or quizzes. Students will be able to master the material through the process of answering questions. Through the use of Articulate and other programs, "Learning Objects" can be created to give students more time to learn the content. As far as essays are concerned, I would feel more comfortable reading the content of a student's paper and critiquing the content. The mechanics of the paper can be corrected through artificial intelligence. Unless I thoroughly create what needs to be assessed content wise, I would not want artificial intelligence to assess that piece. I need to know more on how that piece of assessment of essays is created to be open to using it. Read article in link below.
